Hi, everyone I have a couple questions I will post here. I am new to the forums and don't know all the policies yet so I am sorry if my questions should have been in different categories. So here they are:

1) What is the "favorite government" deal? Does it affect gameplay at all/significantly?

2) Is there a place in the game where one can see the science-tubes-produced-per-turn figure for his civ? Also, do you know of a place where I can see the science-tubes-required for each tech in the game?

3) If I am working on a tech (and say I have been working on it for a while, say 5 turns left for it) and I suddenly decide to research another one, the research on the second tech starts from scratch. Now my question is: After my second tech is complete and I return to the first, will research continue from where it was left (i.e. acquire it in 5 turns) or will it start over again?

I have been looking in the forums for possible answers for about 3 hours now, but there are just so many threads to look through them all. I realize that some/all of these questions may have been answered already. In that case could you please provide me the link to the appropriate thread? Thanks in advance

Welcome to CFC :)
In answer to your questions:
1) If both you and an AI are using their favourite government, their attitude towards you will be slightly better. Likewise if you are using their shunned government and they aren't, they'll have a slightly worse attitude. It has no other affect, i.e they'll aways choose Democracy for peacetime and Communism/Fascism for war.
2) Not in the game.
3) you'll lose all the accumulated beakers if you change techs and leave the advisor screen

To find out the tech costs use TechCalc by GreyFox. It is in the Utilities forum and shouldn't be too hard to find.

Well, the editor doesn't take account of the difficulty level or the number of other civs that have the tech you want. TechCalc really is the thing to use as it tells you exactly how many beakers it is at that moment in your game.

Is there a place in the game where one can see the science-tubes-produced-per-turn figure for his civ?
You can see this in the f1 screen, under science. It does not however take into account "science-tubes" (usually called beakers ;) ) produced by scientists.

Does this mean that if you put a government type as their favourite then they still might never actually change to it?

Yes. "Favorite"/"Shunned" does not seem to effect the AI's government selection.

Why does the help section of the editor say it will switch (from) the favourite/ shunned government as soon as possible- is it just wrong?

It's wrong or rather it used to work that way and was changed and the help file not updated. Okay, it's wrong.

Yes.It is no place in the game where one can see the science-tubes-produced-per-turn figure for his civ.But it is some place NOT in the game where one can see the science-tubes-required for each tech in the game. For example,in a EDITOR,a WedSite
or a E-mail from your friend.I mean that THE GAME SHOULD SHOW IT!
