3 technical questions

I have just bought and installed the conquests expansion pack and have three questions.

1) What is the game mode 'tournament' in multiplayer the manual does not explain what this is.

2) When I play a LAN multiplayer game, the game still tries to connect to gamespy and I can see other internet users conversation on the host screen How can I stop this.

3) After playing Conquests and in particular the LAN multiplayer mode. I can not access the internet on any of my networked computers until I reset my broadband connection. What is Civ3 doing to my router?!

1. I don't know myself.

2. You always see the other's conversation, regardless if you're set to LAN or Internet, I don't think it's possible to change either.

3. I haven't experienced this when playing with the LAN, so I'm not sure.

Please can someone offer advice on number 2.

I have children and we like to play civ3 over our lan not over the internet just over a lan. But some inconsiderate fools are using obscene language that we can see in the host screen.

Please please help
