Hi,

I didn't find this bug on the forum - or at least, not including a solution.
We just started a BtS PbeM game with 4 players, 3 with a PC, 1 with a MAC. We all patched up to 319. It is a quickstart game, Earth 2, 4 players, 6 AI.
The game went around normally for 2 turns, some of us still had to patch to 319 but otherwise it went fine.

Now we hit the following problem: For three times already, when opening the game file send to a player, he would see the previous players city and the message "(previous player) has paused the game", and there is no way to unpause or end the turn of the previous player. It seems a total crash. Maybe the mac and pc versions are not compatible, but it didn't always occur with the turn of the mac player, in fact it occured twice with the file generated by him, once with the file generated by the next guy.

As a test I cycled through one complete set of turn files on my machine until it was my turn again, and nothing went wrong, so it must be some kind of problem from the different machines. We played a longish pbem before with patch 313 and only pcs and this never happened.

Anybody got an idea? I can send the save files if needed.

Thanks!

BtS patch 319 & PBEM error

We've just upgraded to patch 319 and started a PBEM game, both on PC's and we can't get it to work either, the turn sequence seems mixed up and we can't get past turn 1 ... groundhog day!

Any Idea if 2K games still offer support?

This might be embarrassing for the person sending on the bad save but typically the problem is caused by the player overwriting an existing save when he ends his turn.

This somewow corrupts the save and after passing it on the following player will get the game paused on the previous player's turn problem.

To rectify the error, the person who sent the corrupted save must replay their turn but ensure that any conflicting savefile that already exists in their saves directory is removed before they hit end turn to create the save.

If I recall correctly, another way to rectify the problem is for the player receiving the corrupted save to press OK with their mouse instead of pressing enter after typing in their password at the start of their turn (if they don't have a password, probably the same thing applies - they still have to click OK with their mouse when it tells them it's their turn instead of pressing ENTER). I have no idea why this would affect things but it seemed to work for some people.
