From what I can see in the Mods sections, the modders only have one real problem with making their mods : Not enough 3D modellers around.
How moddable is this game if almost no one can do it ?

So, in the name of the whole community here (or a good part of it at least), the question is quite clear : Does anyone have any good tutorials on how to make good civ-like models (units, leaderhead, buildings) or on how to make good textures and combines them with models.
I think there are lots of people here who really want to help make a mod and have tried to decipher the "How to export a model to Civ4"-tutorial on the main page, but have no damn idea how to make a model just like those featured in that export manual. Most of them downloaded the 3DStudio Max 30-day trial, but in fact, they got no idea how to use the programm (myself included, I'm already proud if I can make a staired pyramid or something) :D

Ain't there some 3D-specialist around somewhere who want to reach out to help all those needy polygon-illiterates ? :D

Thats a tutorial I also would like to read.
I know how to make good looking 3d-models. And I found animation-tutorials.
But I have no clue how to make a good texture-skin and how to put it in a .dss file.
The way I do it: put materials on my polygons and export one standard .nif and one .nif for every material I used.
Beeing able to make my own texture would be much more comfortable and I could design 1 object models instead of 3-5 object models (depending on how many materials i use)

convert your texture to DDS using DDS coventer ( google it, dont have the link right now) and then point to this file as a diffuse map
