5BC Defiant Deity again

Bombs away!

Pre-Turn:
We are wayyyy short on units. Will use MGL's to rush stuff like more stocks and Wall Street.

Sell all libraries, universities and Coal Plants.

Get a MGL, Battlefield Medicine goes into Artax for the culture.

IT
Figure that Antium could use a stock when the time comes.

T1.
Abandon a mayan tundra town lost in the North - we won't be able to transport an army but it'll be taken real soon either way.. Raze the last Beta mayan.

IT
Deal with Iros end but we grab 101gpt from him for Resources - good deal.

Use armies to fend off some aztec infantries - don't like it but we're really short on actual troops.

Air travel to the far north for an extra infantry squad.

T2.
New Quirks (North Mayan town) holds alright.

Upgrade an old galleon for overturn ferrying from A to B.

IT
Aztecs start sending destros to bomb New Quirks, they will meet bombers. All our bombers are diverted north until the mayans are eradicated.

T3.
Boot England: They declare. That's quite a global dogpile.

Capture Atlanta, we now have a somewhat coherent and small front to the east.

IT
AI's aren't too bright this turn.

T4.
Capture Memphis

In the W-NW, send 3 armies to a 3-tile choke of the Aztecs'

IT
Downright dumb this time.

T5.
Just started, off to bed.

MGL on 1st attack, rush wall street.

T6.
WW is huge but we're making great progress on both fronts; Aztecs and America have Mass Prod so I steal it from Abe.

Rome is hiding a settler on a boat. England is at war with them so I'll put my hopes on a MoW savior.

Sign peace with Aztecs. We need to deal with America ASAP. This will free armies in the south and allow for some heavy bomber action in the north where the mayans still siege us.

T7.
Keep pushing hard the american front.
Cash-rush an army

Boot the Aztecs: they re-declare :crazyeye:

T8.
Lose an army capturing Washington

Aztecs send in more troops, we have a good choke, they strangle themselves.

North coming back around together though the english drop a lot of units.

T9.
Lots of healing

IT
Rome is destroyed by the Aztecs.

T10.
Position for an assault

T11.
Capture New York, Philly and Boston.

America is left with Houston and Cincinnati. I suggest signing peace for Cincinnati + 1090g, this way the Iros will take care of Houston for us.

Left a few units active. There are iroquois on Alpha wanting to settle, we may or may not want to declare.

I withdraw everything I said about that airport, I even built one in the capital so that it could ship ressources up there and build a coastal fortress. 1-turn repair of bombers helped too. Keep pounding out with bombers in the north until we can just worry about capturing empty cities with cavalries. That's how I see us winning the mayans over - they've got too good support from the aztecs over there to go hot with troops. Been fishing for a MGL just in case - no luck.

own12-17.jpg

Right now we could deal with the Iros or the Aztecs, whichever. Both have cavalries.

Roster
Own -
B - Beorned (TM Killercane) the Americans
Elephantium - UP
Mumpulus - On Deck
Othniel -

Sell all libraries, universities and Coal Plants.

We are all over the board on our infrastructure plans. For most of the game, we don't build the beaker enhancements because we're planning on buying/stealing techs. Then in just a couple of sets we build and then sell a bunch of science buildings. Not really a complaint, but more of an observation. :crazyeye:

I withdraw everything I said about that airport, I even built one in the capital so that it could ship ressources up there and build a coastal fortress.

Huh? Coastal fortress? Those things work like what, one out of a thousand possible shots, if that. I'm hoping that you're referring to a well-fortified bridgehead city...

There seems to be continued confusion on the roster. I believe this is the correct order:

1. Own
2. BeF
3. Othniel (this makes me up, btw)
4. Elephantium
5. Mump

Somewhere back a ways I started playing right after BeF. I can play my set probably tomorrow.

Coastal fortress gives higher defense against bombardment, our bombers needed it, they were getting slaughtered by boats and it needed to go the other way around. The not firing part doesn't matter. And it's not like it costed much anyways.

I missed the part where we discussed building the libs and unis. Edit: there was no discussion. Tanks and modern armor armies would be nice but at this point all we need is to hold on with the units we have. Eventually someone will get tanks and that, itself, is an overkill with regards to our current needs. We can cash-rush armies like there's no tomorrow, should we ever fall short. We are barely even filling them up.

WW is crazy, we need to destroy the mayans, soon. All bombers north and finish it off.

Ditto on Aabra's comment. I've never heard of CF's being good for something, so that's news to me.

Re the science stuff, I second the (implied) displeasure with a lack of discussion on building the stuff in the first place. I personally would have probably sold the improvements myself, so in truth Beorn, you just beat me to it. ;) I think self-research is useless at this point.

I usually wouldn't even bother looking at the picture but as it stood, we needed every bit of edge over the aztec destroyers. I can't say I actually proof-tested the claim that it adds defense (it claims it adds bombard and we know how good that does...) but 76g is nothing at this point so I went ahead.

Btw I've been organizing workers into plant-chop-irrigate crews for our railed countryside. Civassist can point out what tiles have yet to yield a chop bonus. This makes for much faster bombers out of the grasses. There's still a few to be done in the tundra to our south and if you get in a big time micro mood, you could speed-build cavs in 60 shield towns with 2 plant-chop-mines.

When you're ready to tackle the iroquois, open the blockade I highlighted in the picture. They'll send settler pairs through, you give the boot order, everyone is happy.

Got it. I'm on Turn 9, and I have a situation that requires team input:

I bombed the Mayan capital, killing two Rifles and a Flak after losing one Bomber. The city is now defenseless.

Mayans will sign peace and give up all their towns. It's downright dastardly, but we could sign peace to get the other towns and then waltz in on the remaining Mayan city with a Cav stationed just outside New Q. Team, what do you think?

Edit: Oops, I didn't see Othniel's updated roster until after I'd started playing. I'll post the save, and Othniel can pick it up from where I left off. If you like, you could play 11 turns to balance out my 9, Othniel.

Also, way back in the beginning of the game, I was generally right after BeF. I'd be just as happy leaving it that way.

The save: http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/95212/Own12_1595AD_Tusker.SAV

No worries on playing, Tusker. That way we keep the moving since I can't play until tomorrow at the earliest anyway.

I vote blitzkrieg, break deals, pillage, the whole nine yards. At this point, nothing matters but closing in onto the domination limit.

Tank armies will make this one ridiculous :goodjob:

Kill em off. Seriously, they shouldn't have been around for this long.

Are we going for conquest or not? It's up to whoever is up when we are close to the domination limit- whether he/she wants to play on for conquest or accept domination, that's fine. Conquest might actually be easier since we can't settle cities- by the time we get enough temples and let them expand to get domination, we'll probably have conquered the world.

I played with both objectives in mind; once we have tanks on Beta, we probably won't want to go for the iro island and England's Gamma. We'll see which goes first though, as you said, we might end up stalled for culture.

Btw, for the next player, we'll have to declare on the iroquois before they do it on us since they have 2-3 cavalries in their Alpha foothold. Would be a PITA to break if they go loose.

Took a look into it and, now that all we need to build is tanks and bombers, we should try and optimize for 50-34-25 as much as possible; that would mean a police station in Beornvegas, Lugdunum and Ollan (+MM) and some tile reassignation in Cuzco and Antium.

The mayas are almost down!

A shame about these flips, we'll have to show Abe who rules the world whenever we catch a break from the Aztecs.

Sorry guys, I haven't found time to play over the last two nights. I can probably ;) play tonight, but if someone wants to swap with me, that's fine.

It's around 1:15am and I just realized after 2 and 1/2 hours of playing, that I was playing the WRONG SAVE. :wallbash: I somehow grabbed Beorn's save and played from there. I should have been clued in when the Maya weren't ready to negotiate for their lives, but stupid is as stupid does. (perhaps reading tusker's log a little closer and seeing that we had tank access would have been a big hint too...)

Sooo...I'm toast for the night. I don't really see me playing another set in the next couple of days, so I need to request a skip until next round (if there is another round...:hmm:). Sorry about the long wait and then me unable to play the correct save.

Pre-turn- Our bitter rival throughout the game has succumbed to the superior tactics of the humans. The Mayans are officially dead. Oh crap, I did not remember that units from cities given in peace go back to capital, and there are too many infantry to handle, so they'll have to wait for next
turn. I ship an army over to Beta. Raze Tzintzuntzen.

IBT- Uxmal (Mayan city we just got on Aztec continent) gets razed. Meh. Crap, the aztecs recapture Tenochitland. I took units out because of
flip risk and then pillaged so tanks couldn't get to it. I thought they had no more cavs.

1. Tenochitland is recaptured. I kill a dozen ships or so, but New Bonampak still won't fall. Capture Tlateloco. I use remaining cav armies to form a wall on the front with a pillaged passage so that their cav can't get thru to our cities.

IBT- Undo a deal with iros as we may want to fight them soon. More money doesn't do us much good. I made a major mistake, by giving the
aztecs a hole to go thru, and they take two cities. Not all bad, since it lowers population more.

2. Recapture those two cities. Get a leader, and we have another boring army. After oil is pillaged, pillaging army razes Caughnawaga. Kill a tank
and infantry. Finish off the Mayans :) :) :) !!!!

Own12_MayansDead_.JPG

IBT- Some iros move into our territory.

3. Aztecs oil industry goes dry, as I pillage the final oil. Capture Tlacopan because it has magellans. Get a leader. Tank Army!!! I have to boot
the iros and they declare on us. Crap. I wish I didn't have to do that. I go crazy airlifting and rushing units to make the situation on our continent
and near the iros land more managable.

IBT- Uaxuctun is captured. Thats it. The English take San Fran from the merkins.

4. Raze Malinalco. Capture Atzcapolzaclo. Autoraze Kawauka. Capture Goiguen. Recapture Uaxuctun. Autoraze Kente, and the Iros are off our
continent. Clean up many iroquois units hanging around. I abandon Tlacopan because it's too big a flip risk, and I have no way to defend it. I
set some bombers up to rip up Allegheny and Cattaraugs.

IBT- The iroquois launch a feeble counterattack, with a handful of infantry taking position on random grasslands.

5. Bombers put a beating on Allegheny, and it's razed. Not much else.

All of our bombers are in Neapolis, and can put a hurtin on 3 iro cities I think. I bet 30 more turns and we get conquest. Domination isn't feasible, since keeping cities is too difficult.

Roster-

Othniel

Othniel or Mumpulus, since Beorn just played 2 sets ago, either of you can jump in and take it.
