6 in pop and 2 in land???

So we where 6 playing this ffa. I look at the stats and I see that I am number 2 in land and number 6 in population. I had like 500 000 subject and the average was 1 500 000.

How can this be possible? Is this a bug or I'm missing something?

It is correct. One 10 pop capital has way more population than ten 1 pop small cities.

Maybe considering to grow existing cities a bit and manage happiness better before expanding.

So a 1 pop city is worth 1000 pop, where as a 10 pop city is worth 630,000 pop. This link shows a graph for all levels of pop up to size 40.

And yet, 10 size 3 cities would produce as much science as a size 30 city, theoretically speaking, if there were no science boosting buildings in any of those cities, right? I believe this is how a rapidly expanding civ can keep up in tech with smaller science focused civs with NC etc, at least in the early game.
