This game will be run over as many sessions as it takes, until a victory condition has been reached, or all have conceded the game to the winner.

We play in the evenings in Auckland, NZ, starting at 8pm. Sessions usually last 2-3 hours. We have moved to daylight savings here, so currently our timezone is at GMT +13 hours. As most places in the northern hemisphere will be coming off daylight savings soon, the game will shift an hour earlier for you.

Days are arranged based on the players' schedules.

For example, start times in these places are/will be (current/ after the north moves off daylight savings):

West Coast US: Midnight/11pm
East Coast US: 3AM / 2AM
London: 8AM / 7AM
Sydney: 5pm (changed already?)

New players are welcome. However, I have a couple local players now, and others from previous games, so filling this up should happen pretty quick.

See these threads for more info. They are organizing threads, and also have posts about the story of what happened in the game later in the thread.

For this game, a small map, either continents or pangaea most likely. Settings are up for discussion. Barbs, huts, city states (at least some) all ON.

Post here if you are interested!

Nice. Oob, will Rob be joining us again?

If we have too many players, I will decide who plays based on:

1) ease of scheduling--it would be great if we could have at least one set day per week;
2) skill--judgement call of course...probably #1 will be the main factor.

Get signed up!

In, just need to test something before confirming.

Tested and confirmed?

We may have six already.

Anyone else interested please do sign up, as we still need to make sure our schedules match before starting.

I'll be away around lunch time on tuesday an friday. So I can't play on those days if it's the usual time slot.

meso is checking on his graphics card issue...he's had a new freeze issue with the game after a change to his system.

In the next week or so I'll start trying to coordinate an actual start date.

Sorry to hear that, Meso. I hope you can sort something out for next time.

Kyp, yep, would be glad to have you join us.

If I seem slow setting this up...well, I guess I am. It's been a really stressful week at work.

Let's talk days--hopefully you all have this thread bookmarked with some kind of frequent notification by now, as that will help us coordinate relatively quickly.

Assuming we can find common days to play, we have six: myself, RedRob (he doesn't post but knows Oob in real life), The aforementioned Oob, zalta, Zoeff, and secondsaber87, aka Kyp (Durron). A couple other players have expressed some interest but haven't posted...so let's call them backups for now: Brenador and Tabarnak.

As usual, I'm flexible. We're going to a quarterfinal rugby game on Saturday, so that's out for me. Tomorrow is bound to be too soon.

When can people play? Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday etc. State the days you can and hopefully there's at least one we all can do.

Also, it would really be best I think if we try to have at least one set day per week, so please state if that's possible for you and what day(s). Hopefully we can throw in another session every week or so, but we'll see how it goes with six.

Please reply like this to make it easy for me:

Set / regular day(s) I should be able to play most weeks: _______________
Days I can play in the next week: _______________________________________

The start time, as usual, remains the same.

Set / regular day(s) I should be able to play most weeks: Mon/Wed/Thu/Sun
Days I can play in the next week: as above

If someone wants to replace Rob they should, since he isn't that keen, but will play if we need another player.

As I see it, Rob and Zoeff are about the same skill level, if that helps him be more interested.

Let's go for starting this on Monday, looks good for everyone. We could have that as our set day, and try to pick up another game each week, schedules permitting. Probably something on the weekend, based on what everyone's posted.

Let's talk settings. I'm thinking continents or pangaea, small map. Reduced number of CS?

And rules. Do we want to try to have any, beyond what the game mechanics allow? I know Oob is not a fan of double moves...I'm just used to them, but I could try to resist the temptation. One thing I don't want to get sucked into, though, is disputes about fairness and requests for reloads and such. It may just be easier to have no 'artificial' rules around double moves, to avoid the above headaches. There are plusses and minues to trying to move at the end of one turn and start of the next, and a prepared player can certainly punish such behaviour on the battlefield.

Also, hosts. My machine is not the greatest...it would probably work fine to start, but for later saves it probably would make sense for someone with a high-end machine to host. And saving for MP is not so tricky anymore.

We've got a few days before we start. Let's get clear about what we're doing before then so we can have more game time on Monday. :)

And here's hoping the game works for the six of us, with no game-stopping issues.
