I am having trouble downloading Civ 3 onto m windows7 64bit. I have no idea of how to navigate around the workings of computer language as such!... Im referred to in Korean as "Gee Meng"...'Technologically challenged'...

Im a Civ 11 fan,,,have played civ4 and civ5.. [sorry, they are to slow]. But civ3 looks more like what I want.

Any ideas??????

Thanx for the help... got a little further... I had to replace the 'Crack',,what ever that is. That worked but now i have bink32.ll ??? not working...I will try again tomorrow

Bink is used to render video in many games. You can download a copy for free. Just enter bink in google to find what you need.

I decided i would see if my smaller laptop would work.Ithis time downloaded Civilization 3 Complete Edition.

things seem to be going fine...smooth travels in till the 'install wizard' nearly finish. Then came a 'Fatal Error Message'. - i have no understanding of its meaning. Hope someone can work out this problem. : error message said:

Error 1311.source file not found:C:\User\*my name*\Desktop\Civ 3\Civilization 3 Complete Edition\Data2.cab.

[i have Data1... but no Data2.cab.]
a 2nd error message appeared....

Error: 1603 Fatal Error during instulation Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chn) or MSDN for more information.

any of that make sense.....

*i just want to play*

A cab file is basically file that has many other files packed into it and gets unpacked sort like a zip file. The installer could not find that cab file and cannot go further. So either the download did not complete properly or the file is not in the proper directory.

I would search to see, if the Data2.cab file is on your system someplace. If it is move it to where the installer expects to find it as the qualifier for the file names says.

If you do not find it try to d/l it again. If this is from Steam or one of the main digital services, check on their site to see, if this has been reported and a work around is listed.
