64bit patch?

ok i was wondering if anyones gonna make a 64bit patch for Civ1 so it'll work on my 64bit windows 7

cus i'm to lazy to load up VM ware every time i wanna play Civ 1



and i have home premium so XP mode is out of the question

You'd need to rewrite the entire game to accomplish this. The nature of 16-bit Windows programs is fundamentally different from writing 64-bit ones. In short: it's not gonna happen. However, I guess it is in the realm of possibility for Firaxis to release an updated version of Chronicles that packages Civ 1 with an integrated VM, but who knows what licensing issues there are with shipping the game along with a 16-bit Windows core.

Supposedly WINE is being ported to 64 bit Windows, but who knows how long that will take.
