You know, I'm italian, so I love to make my monuments! ;)

This is the Vittoriano, the tomb for unknown soldier built in Rome and symbol of the Italian unity... a great monument for Nationalism, I think

Stats and suggestions are in the zip, but also if you would tell about...

very kindly italian monument.... it is likely to please strangers most of all.... italian people, exspecially roman citizens, don't love it so much.... They call it “macchina da scrivere” [typewriter]

anyway god job Rufus :goodjob:

It's certainly interesting building. Its pompousness challenges the viewer and with me, it looked so tasteless that it was actually pretty. Sadly, the location is so wrong that it hurts. Although the contrast between it and Forum Romanum is certainly interesting, it is quite an eyesore when considering the surroundings.

Anyway, very nice graphics. I'll get around doing the library update in the next few days.

It's true, it is so likely the old Olivetti (this one)

but I think that now it is become a important monument, with the job of our president Ciampi. :love:
And is Vittoriano like Olivetti or Olivetti like Vittoriano? :)

Non credi?

@Drift:
Yes, it is so in the way to the Imperial forum, but when it was built this zone is one of the poorer in the capital, also the corso dei Fori Imperiali, the street that links the Colosseum with Venice's place was built after, by Mussolini, on 30s.

Ciao

The new splash is very good Rufus :)
I think i will use it as War Acadamy or something like that.

FANTASTIC, I like this a lot! :)

I've never been to Rome, nor Italy (I almost moved to Genoa for 6 months as a foreign exchange student) but I don't get why the Romans would hate such a beautiful building nor why it's an eyesore. Can you tell me why?

@Vasili: because it's a National unity monument and also a tomb of unknown soldier, you can use it to reduce war weariness.

@Mobilize: the greatest problem of this building is the location: it's on place Venezia (where Mussolini made his speech), but it cover the Imperial forum. If you search other information take a look on www.quirinale.it , the site of Presidence of the Italian republic.
