Planned to settle 3 to 4 cities, rush Voi Chien and push my next neighbour. Turns out there was noone anywhere close.
So I settled more cities towards Khmer and went pyramids before Voi Chien, but was quite a few turns late.
Jayaravaman came in for a war, but I started building units a little too early so he moved his troops around my cities without actually declaring war. I eventually declared war on him before he was able to retreat and took his citys with mainly Voi Chien, who where pleasently effective against this walls.
Took his last city on turn 97 and immediatly declared a protectorate war (0 grievances, yeah) on China before they could take Hongkong. (too real^^)
(If I had waited another 10 turns I could have taken Jayaravamans cities probably for free, since apparently he did not care about barbarians at all.

Religion: Goddess of the Hunt because I love my early production. No religion.
Governors: Magnus with provision since I planned to chop the pyramids. Pingala. Victor for loyality.

Ps: No niter anywhere near in sight, so I no musketman or bombards for me I guess. that really sucks

- What was your plan for achieving a Domination VC? What are the major steps you planned to take? What events, if any, changed the plan in execution and to what new plan? Any interesting decision points?
Settle 4 strong cities, build some Campuses to secure good Science to not fall behind in tech, then build Thanhs, Stables and masses of Horsemen and attack one of my neighbours early. I decided that India should be my first target because they didn't have any walls nor did he have Elephants. He did however build his first Elephants after I declared war on him, so it made the war a bit more difficult. While fighting off India, I upgraded my Horsemen to Couriers and started to build Knights in my Stables to prepare war against Khmer. I intend to continue on the Cavalry/Curassier path for my military.

- How did the leader bonus and civ unique ability impact your plan/play, if at all?
For a starter, I decided not to chop in this game as I wanted to use the trees for faster movement and districts. So far, I didn't build a lot of speciality districts, only some Campuses. The movement bonus was often useful. I have just upgraded by first archers to Voi Chin, so they have not yet been used. The Culture bonus from the Thanhs has been useful.

- Where did you settle your capital city? Why? Your second city? Why?
Capital was settled in place as I saw no reason to move. Plains Hill start for extra production, Natural Wonder for Era Score & immediate Culture, Coastal for Sailing boost and very strong 1st & 2nd ring tiles. I decided for "tall" settling and chose the spot I thought the best for my second city, to the north east at the Ivory.

- Early order for technology/civics? What did you prioritize for technology/civics?

Initial tech order was: AH, Mining, Bronze Working, Sailing, Pottery, Writing.

Why Sailing? I wanted to build a Galley to complete a quest and the Era Score. In the end I didn't need the Era Score but I met Nan Madol and got some extra Culture off it. It has also been my best scout unit and helped me meet Mongols as both of my Scouts were killed by barbs.

After that, I went for Horseback Riding and then beelined to Castles before beelining to Stirrups.

- What was your early build order in your capital and other early cities? Military units / Civilian units / Districts & city development / Wonders / Civ Unique Unit & Infrastructure? Most critical or interesting?

Initial build order Capital: Scout, Scout, Slinger, Settler, Slinger, Settler, Trader
I went for a quite early trader as I wanted roads to India and Khmer early to quicken up my future wars
My army consisted in the early game of the initial Warrior and 5 Slingers that I used to clear out barb camps. My builders quickly set up the Deer camps in my capital and later connect the luxuries.
I went for two wonders that I thought would be helpful: Temple of Artemis in my second city and Terracotta Army in my capital.

- Pantheon chosen and why? Religious beliefs chosen, and why?

I took Goddess of the Hunt for the fantastic camp spots and I had three of them each in my capital and 2nd city, so I preferred the early boost this game. With so many Breathtaking tiles in the capital, Earth Goddess with Monumentality could have been a good option as well.

- What governments did you select? What policy cards did you use? Why?

Discipline and God King to start, later I used Agoge and Ilkum. First Government was Oligarchy for the extra experience. I used mainly Cavalry production card and Unit maintenance reduction, together with Urban Planning, Charismatic Leader and +2 Scientist points for turn 50-100.

- Which Governors did you choose and why did you choose them?

Pingala all the way, he is now level 4 in my capital, for strong culture, science and more scientist and general points. I didn't see a reason for chopping, so Magnus was not useful. I could have used Liang for some extra builder actions and Victor for the extra promotion but so far I didn't go that way. I may need Victor now to solve some loyalty problems in my wars.

- How long did it take to find your neighbors? What did you do for early diplomacy/trading? Peace or War (and by you or them)?

I met Khmer Turn 19 and then my scouts found the other neighbors quite fast, expect Mongols who I found late with my Galley and Japan who I didn't yet find but I have seen some rumors about him. I traded my luxuries early but held on to my Horses and Iron to make the wars easier hopefully. I didn't need the gold as I had a very nice monopoly boost of 30 to 45 gold. India was my first target and was destroyed farily easy with Archers and Horsemen, then upgraded to Coursers. Khmer is my new target and I have 5 Knights who took his first city easy. Only problem is that he has Ancient Walls in all cities.

- What City-States did you meet and which ones did you nurture to your side?
Kabul has been useful for the extra experience. I'm suzerain of another 3-4 cities but I don't utilize them much

- When did you have Dark/Golden ages?

2 Golden Ages so far. I went for Pen, Brush & Voice for both of them as I didn't want a religion and had no faith to buy Workers. The science bonus was also not helpful for me.

- How did the game mode affect or impact your play?

So far, the only impact I had was the big monopoly bonus that gave a real boost to my gold income. I have just researched Currency so I expect to build some industries soon.

- How were the Barbarians?

There were a lot of them, but I managed to destroy all camps fairly quick with my Slingers. Khmer had big problems with 3 camps surrounding him, one of them with Horses. Both my Scouts were killed after being surrounded my barbs.

- Any surprises/frustration/elations?

I was surprised to find Geneva in the game after seeing only East Asian civs, city states, even Wonders. The placement of the Natural Wonders is also very nice to see, a bit Earth Like.

83 Science per turn
58 Culture per turn
21 Faith per turn
56 Gold per turn

- What was your plan for achieving a Domination VC? What are the major steps you planned to take? What events, if any, changed the plan in execution and to what new plan? Any interesting decision points?
1. Create 2-4 solid cities.
2. Archer rush in preparation for the Vietnam UU.
3. Pick off enemy civs until victory is achieved.
My invasion of the Khmer took longer than expected due to them creating Ancient Walls earlier than I would've liked and me failing to manage loyalty in the first city I took. Had to bring in a second wave of units and buy a Battering Ram.
- How did the leader bonus and civ unique ability impact your plan/play, if at all?
VIetnam's UA is more an impediment than anything, albeit less so in this map than it usually would be. I've definitely repositioned my units to take advantage to that beautiful +5 combat bonus, but I find the movement bonus to be a bit finicky. I'm not sure if the pathfinding understands it and I dislike having to do the level of micro that I think is required to properly take advantage of it.
- Where did you settle your capital city? Why? Your second city? Why?
Settled in place for the capital. Seemed like a decent spot, having fresh water, luxuries, and a natural wonder. For my second city, I settled near the tobacco tiles to the east of my capital. Again, luxuries and fresh water.
- Early order for technology/civics? What did you prioritize for technology/civics?
Hmm... I recall making Archery an early priority and then heading towards Machinery.
For civics, I normally prioritize getting Early Empire, but made a brief detour to Mysticism for the Preserve district.
- What was your early build order in your capital and other early cities? Military units / Civilian units / Districts & city development / Wonders / Civ Unique Unit & Infrastructure? Most critical or interesting?
This game was my first time using the Preserve district and I'm loving it in my capital. It's giving me some beautiful yields and, alongside the Earth Goddess pantheon, is really enabling me to take advantage of the Monumentality Golden Age. The faith generation I'm getting reminds me a bit of playing as Trajan as a member of the Voidsingers.
The Thành is a great district. Plop it down cheap, get some culture and start racking in the Great General points.
- Pantheon chosen and why? Religious beliefs chosen, and why?
Earth Goddess pantheon. My capital had plenty of high Appeal tiles and I love Faith when I'm playing Domination. No religion.
- What governments did you select? What policy cards did you use? Why?
Oligarchy for the combat bonus.
Big fan of Agoge to better enable my unit spam. Went Feudalism pretty early, but I'm finding Serfdom less useful this game than it generally is.
- Which Governors did you choose and why did you choose them?
Pingala first for Culture. Amani second to get an early Suzerainty. Magnus for chops and Victor to secure loyalty in conquered cities.
- How long did it take to find your neighbors? What did you do for early diplomacy/trading? Peace or War (and by you or them)?
Took longer than expected. I sent delegations to most and declared friendship when possible. My early economy has been pretty reliant on selling off my excess luxuries. Indonesia was offering 11 gold per turn for a single luxury, which is beautiful.
Declared war on the Khmer and conquered three of their four cities. Ghandi isn't happy with me, nor is Japan or Indonesia (Shame about the latter). Korea and China are currently still friendly with me, which is fine. I need trading partners for as long as I can keep them.
After I'm done with India (denounced them a few turns ago), China is next on the chopping block.
- What City-States did you meet and which ones did you nurture to your side?
- When did you have Dark/Golden ages?

I recently started my second Golded Age.
- How did the game mode affect or impact your play?
I've pinned some tiles to build Industries on later.
Also, I settled the cocoa tiles between me and India in preparation for my invasion of them. Ended up getting an unexpected monopoly that way.
Aside from that, I've pretty much ignored the Corporation mode aspect of things.
- How were the Barbarians?
Plenty of barbarian camps early game and I almost lost a Settler to one of their Warriors. Thankfully, I managed to bait it with my Scout.
- Any surprises/frustration/elations?
Just wanna say this was a pretty insane start and I'm loving the yields I'm getting in my capital. Like, I was seeing Production levels greater than 20 per turn waaay sooner than I'm used to.
