Science victory turn 228, score 1143.
I stuck with the core cities until I needed coal, but I think I delayed the settling phase too long. I founded a late religion, which was probably a waste of time and may have delayed the victory. However, it was still one of my fastest science victories, and was fun.
- What was your plan for achieving the VC? What are the major steps you planned to take? What events, if any, changed the plan in execution and to what new plan? Any interesting decision points?
just wanted to spam observatorie but a forward settle from nubia mad me change direction towards war
- What were your initial 5-10 builds in the capital or other early cities?
Scout-builder-settler-mounument-herc-observatory
- Early order for technology/civics? What did you prioritize for technology/civics?
Pottery-irrigation-writting - mining
- How did the leader bonus and civ unique ability impact your plan/play, if at all?
because of the housing issues maya has i did build an early worker- and i did try and max farms aroun observatories sincer it was an old map and i new i would need production
- How many cities did you settle and/or capture? Where did you settle your first few cities?
Settleed 10 and captured 2 from nubia. the forward settle was exactly 6 tiles away fromn my cap
- What were key production/purchase focuses? Military units / Civilian units / Districts & city development / Wonders / Civ Unique Unit & Infrastructure? Most critical or interesting?
observatorie and holysites was my main focus
- Pantheon chosen and why? Religious beliefs chosen, and why?
Goddes of the festival - for culture
- What governments did you select? What key policy cards did you use? Why?
Classical Republic - theocracy - Democracy and ofc Synthetic Technocracy- moonlanding was key to reach international space agency (+5% science pr CS)
- Which Governors were most important; when and why?
Amani she helped me scout the map fast around turn 90 I had the entire map scouted
- Was diplomacy/trading useful? How? Relations with other civs?
trading was very usefull since ui had alot of extra copies of each rersource
- When did you have Dark/Golden ages?
Golden - Golden _golden - game ended in the Rennaissance
- How did the game modes affect or impact your play?
Secret Soceity- Voidsinger is so damn good for science victories
- Any surprises/frustration/elations you ran into, how did you deal with it?
was halted by the barb in the early game + i got a surprice DOW from Nubia
Not the most optimized effort, but abundant resources stress me out - no place to build! Especially for a civ that's all about layout planning. But this is my first official submit, and I'm happy about it It's very difficult for me to not reload misclicks, but I have to admit, it's also fun this way!
Spoiler:
- What was your plan for achieving the VC? What are the major steps you planned to take? What events, if any, changed the plan in execution and to what new plan? Any interesting decision points?
The plan was to settle Maya-style and start observatories ASAP. I failed at scouting and didn't get hermetic order until, like, turn 200... Also, two cities had to be outside Maya range: one to prevent Nubia from forward settling and another west for coal
- What were your initial 5-10 builds in the capital or other early cities?
Observatories first, then builders for plantations
- Early order for technology/civics? What did you prioritize for technology/civics?
Whatever there was inspiration for, Irrigation and universities. Culture game was very weak, and I struggled to get to new governments.
- How did the leader bonus and civ unique ability impact your plan/play, if at all?
A builder when founding nearby city is insanely good! No problem with housing if you're on top of building farms
- How many cities did you settle and/or capture? Where did you settle your first few cities?
8 cities, most settled after Magnus promotion was ready
- What were key production/purchase focuses? Military units / Civilian units / Districts & city development / Wonders / Civ Unique Unit & Infrastructure? Most critical or interesting?
Only built a couple of wonders for era score. In the cities built observatories first, then production, then housing. Bought buildings and builders when had money.
- Pantheon chosen and why? Religious beliefs chosen, and why?
Culture from plantations, no religion
- What governments did you select? What key policy cards did you use? Why?
Classical republic -> merchant republic -> communism. Cards for science and production and settlers/builders when needed
- Which Governors were most important; when and why?
I forgot to move city projects Pingala to the capital that was building space projects, so yeah... not my best day
- Was diplomacy/trading useful? How? Relations with other civs?
One surprise war from Dido, but she lost steam very fast, friendships otherwise
- When did you have Dark/Golden ages?
Mostly golden, one dark
- How did the game modes affect or impact your play?
Corporations don't count as plantations so I mostly forgot about them. Used Anansi once for extra science and culture, but then forgot about him. Wanted to go Hermetic order, but didn't discover them until about turn 200... So not good
- Any surprises/frustration/elations you ran into, how did you deal with it?
ALL my spies got killed on first missions, and I chose something with 84% success rate So I gave up on spying, especially as at this point I was already going into space
- Did you enjoy your game?
Yes, Lady Six Sky is always nice when there are enough plantations around
The stars are right: Win the game with Lady Six Sky
This Lady Six Sky early game really feels very different from other games, with this high incentive to pack all the cities together.
Plan
To build a tall empire around the capital building the best Observatories possible and planting as many farms around as space allowed. Later when I discovered there were so many science city-states, I gave priority to anything able to bring me envoys (Diplomatic League, Himiko hero, Owls of Minerva+Trade routes and whatever City-state mission was at hand). This also made me think the International Space Agency policy would be even more strong than normal, so I started to try get as much culture possible to get to Globalization. I built monuments everywhere, a few gilded vaults and even one theater square.
Early game
After moving the warrior to the south, I spotted the forest tile was mixed with tundra. After checking the edge of the map and confirmed I was too close to the south, I decided to move the settler to the north across the river and start an exodus for more fertile lands. With another civilization I sure would have not bothered with it, but given the Maya have bonuses to the cities 6 hex from the capital and you cannot build farms over the tundra, I decided the trip, even if dangerous, it could compensate the lost turns and losing the legendary start location.
And thus, I settled my capital on T4 after finding an ok spot next to luxuries and with a clearly ample valley around, with much space to build cities to the south before hitting tundra. When I discovered later the two city-states very close, I was a bit of cooled down, but still, I found enough space to pack a good group of cities.
I strongly planned the deployment of my capital affected area, and by T100 I had already 8 cities and 3 more on the go.
Cities
Second city went to the north, to get the Coast eureka and prepare the Galley extra Era Score. Third went to the southwest to cut the advances of Gitarja. I settled the legendary start location only with the fourth city.
Settled 14 cities in total. Got 2 from Nubia, and 2 other cities flipped to me because of loyalty. Also conquered two more cities I liberated for they were more useful as city-states.
9 of the settled cities were in the inner hexagon around the capital. My last city, Yokib, I settled in the Eyjafjallajökull with the idea to build the Amundsen-Scott wonder in the snow there. It also revealed plenty of oil there which was useful. I settled a few other cities out of the inner hexagon to get extra luxuries. As I found all the strategic resources I needed on this expanded crown, I did not have to build any extra late game city for resources. Diplomacy
All peace except for a war with Nubia as I wanted to liberate Zanzibar. Also liberated Rapa Nui from a free city after a loyalty pressure victory.
During the early stage I traded horses and luxuries for a tone of gold. But through mid-game and late-game they just did not have coin enough to absorb my luxuries and diplomatic favor. I really thing there is a bug with the AI, they just seem to focus on building wonders and other not useful stuff when their land is still not improved at all.
Governors
Amani first, gave me suzerainty with Geneva early, on T12, levied their armies for 160 golds to explore the map. I had never done this type of exploration before but it worked very well, specially on a map with so much land like this one. I kept moving Amani around through the game when it was possible, and this worked specially well with Himiko hero.
Second governor was Magnus for the extra chop value that helped to get out settlers faster, and the Provision advance kept my population high on the capital. Along with an early Government Plaza and Early Empire, this helped me build my inner crown of cities without the need of Monumentality.
I gave priority to Liang over Pingala, because the Maya benefit so much from farms, I wanted the boost to the number of early farms I could build.
On the late game, I used Magnus' Vertical Integration on the capital with Industrial zones and power plants in most of the other cities around which gave a real boost to the construction of the Space Projects. I think the boost is higher than the 30% boost from Pingala.
Wonders
The Colosseum was incredible in such a packed space, it brought all my empire into happiness. Tried to get the Forbidden city for the extra culture and policy but lost. Also lost the Oxford University by one turn (I had one more chop available but I thought I was going to win that one...). Managed to get the Kilwa Kilwasi, which was very strong with so many city-states. Built the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus with an Engineer for extra charges. And also managed to build the Amundsen-Scott research station with Gustave Eiffel. Angkor-wat in the end game for the extra population. There were other minor wonders.
Heroes
Went for Hercules immediately, in the early game it brought up an Encampment for civic boosts and late game Integrated Space Cell policy boost, a Holy Site for my religion and a Commercial Hub for early merchant points, trade route and the market/trade routes civic boosts. On the late game he built 6 Spaceports single-handedly!
Himiko served me well to ensure my city-states, scale their bonuses and then move Amani to other new city-states.
I totally wanted Mauito scale up bonuses on Observatories and city locations, but regretfully it was reclaimed by Dido before I even started to build my first hero.
The last hero I reclaimed was Hunahpu & Xbalanque, basically because a barbarian camp had gone crazy in the tundra to my south and I had no real army. It helped me to get multiple man-at-arms and archers.
Monopolies
Thanks to the abundant resources it was very difficult to get a monopoly and so I was not as much worried about a Tourism unwanted victory as in previous Science+Monopolies games. I built industries and three corporations, but other than the Dyes corporation in my second city for the +25% faith, I really did not pay much attention to this mode.
Just comment this mode specially breaks the AI, when it is enabled, and it is the case in this game, they rarely make improvements, and never have resources to exchange.
Secret Societies
Discussed with myself for a time between the Owls of Minerva and the Ley lines one, but decided to go with the Owls, because there were so many city-states and the trade routes envoy bonus was very handy, also little space and did not want Ley lines to take more of it. The extra cards where very handy. The gilded vault extra culture was nice, but getting adjacency bonuses for the Commercial hub just seems so tough...
Final State
Thanks to the Maya bonuses with settled cities, the many luxuries in the map, and the geometry that made Colosseum and Stadium very strong, the happiness was triumphing in my Empire through the whole game, the rest of the leaders were looking with envy.
The International Space Agency policy was very strong, it was giving me 2500+ science by the end game. Also, with all the modifiers from happiness, Amundsen-Scott, Maya capital, etc. my Pingala city has a +104% total modifier to science.
Thanks a lot, it was a fun game, specially the early to mid game felt very different from other ones.

I made a lot of mistakes:
trying to find vampires which I couldn't find despite destroying like 5 barb camps early, going for religion and then abandoning it, and loosing a lot of production for nonsense wars. I Killed Gitarja and Nubia.
- What was your plan for achieving the VC? What are the major steps you planned to take? What events, if any, changed the plan in execution and to what new plan? Any interesting decision points?
I focused on building as many observatories as I could, but I failed the settling and map exploring game, so I stayed with 4 cities on turn 100 ;x
- How did the leader bonus and civ unique ability impact your plan/play, if at all?
There was some +7 and +6 observatories, but I ruined some of them by building industries instead of plantatnions around them :x
- How many cities did you settle and/or capture? Where did you settle your first few cities?
Around 8-10.
- What were key production/purchase focuses? Military units / Civilian units / Districts & city development / Wonders / Civ Unique Unit & Infrastructure? Most critical or interesting?
observatories
- Pantheon chosen and why? Religious beliefs chosen, and why?
production from strategic resources
- Which Governors were most important; when and why?
Pingala - science and culture in the early game
- Was diplomacy/trading useful? How? Relations with other civs?
Yup, I made tons of money trading
- How did the game modes affect or impact your play?
The fact that I couldn't find vampiers destroyed optimal gameplay, so I took Hermetic order for fun and then I just played for fun, no optimization
- Any surprises/frustration/elations you ran into, how did you deal with it?
The fact that I couldn't get vampiers disappointed me a lot :c
- Did you enjoy your game?
Yes, I streamed it, so it was fun c:
Slow... too much respect for the Immortal level AI, perhaps. I'm still at the stage that a win at this level is satisfying, though, so thanks for the game! Under 300 turns is a fair achievement for me.
Completely peaceful game. Never before had experience with secret societies, and the one I needed for science unlocked only after I found the Reef with Satellites. Long before that, though, i slipped and clicked on vampire one - instalock in a society being rather a drawback of the mechanics. Among the leaders I gambled with Maui, but got no plantation resources. Corporations didn't add much either. All in all a regular vanilla space race with a few sprinkles.
SV 262. Peaceful here as well. Lady Six is definitely a fun leader and a good example of how many Civ6 leaders actually influence the way you play the game, instead of just giving an UU and UB for example and keeping the rest identical. My initial core was 7 cities settled around the capital near plantationable resources and then I settled a few more cities without the bonus a bit further. Don't like the societies mode, so got the Minerva one just near the end of the game.
SV @ T165 (my fastest one to date, although some turns were replayed due to misclicks and mistakes )
It was my first game to reach 2500 science/turn, build Scott-Amundsen, AND have a level 4 government
A couple of ideas from the playthrough:
Managed to get Hercules (first), Himiko and Anansi -- used them whenever I could, they were active pretty much throughout the entire game
Used Hercules to build 6 x Spaceports
Settled polar regions for Scott-Amundsen as well as for chopping space projects (especially the Exoplanet expedition speed boosts)
Reached a speed of 18 light-years / turn
Had a peaceful game with a bit under 20 cities; attacked Gandhi in order to farm science, and Viet Nam in order to liberate Buenos Aires
Insisted on having a happy population, the bonuses really really add up.
It was a super fun game, even though I needed 4 months to finish it without playing anything else otherwise. Corporations and Heroes are very good game modes, hope to see them again!
Thanks for the game 6otM team!
PS: Thinking of picking up the Inca one, which I hope I can finish before Christmas
