I cannot build anything in my capital after two starts. This is with a cleared cache.

EDIT: I wasn't able to go back and make v6.9 work afterward, even with a cleared cache. I tried a vanilla start with a cleared cache, and there was no problem.
 
I'm having the same issue. Turn 1 I build my capital, and can never get it open up the choose production window, either from the hammer icon, the quick production screen, or the full city screen.
 
Do any error messages appear in the tuner when you click the city production bar?

If v6.9 worked before and now it doesn't work, there's still temporary data lingering somewhere. Did you try clearing ModUserData?

It's a very strange situation... here's what I know.

  • That's a common occurrence when a user interface element (like the production popup) encounters a runtime error. This is the most likely cause.
  • I've encountered that thousands of times in Alpha testing in the past half year, but something that immediate obviously gets fixed before it goes to Beta or Public.
  • It's working okay on my system.

Here's some other causes I haven't encountered yet in mod development, but could theoretically be possible:

  • I could have accidentally modified one of the core game UI files in a way so the mod works on my system but not yours.
  • Userdata corruption on your computer.
  • Since it happens right at the start of the game before you've done anything, the only other difference I can think of between your games and mine are map settings. What are your settings?
    • leader
    • map script
    • size
    • speed
    • difficulty
    In the past week I've started hundreds of games on random leader settings and haven't encountered it yet, so this last one is statistically unlikely but possible. (Each time I want to test a new mod setting I gotta restart or reload, and restarting is faster. :lol:)
 
My mod cache was cleared most of the times I started a new game. I left it uncleared sometimes for comparison. I also restarted the computer.

The following test was done with the cache not cleared, but relatively fresh (well after the error began to happen). Settings are Emperor, Continents, Standard. I built and tried to select an improvement immediately. Let me know if there's something different that you'd like me to try.

I've never used CSD. I started by using Custom Notifications and InfoAddict, then quit using them as well. I have all the DLC's.

It's highly unlikely this would help but you could try re-verifying the game files. Another thing you could could try is redownloading the beta, which is in build 3 now.

The only other suggestion I can make at this point can be rather daunting if you haven't modded before. When an XML file doesn't load I move stuff out to isolate the problem. In this case I'd create a new XML file.

  1. Copy "CiVUP - New Tables.xml" to a new file, "CiVUP - New Tables 2.xml"
  2. Open Unofficial Patch and Thals Balance (v 70).modinfo
  3. Search for "New Tables"
  4. Duplicate both lines where it appears on for the new 2 file.
  5. Copy-paste the file's full path name to an MD5 generator to get an MD5 string for the file.
  6. Try copying one section of the old XML file to the new one at a time, to see if it ever works.
 
After researching "Atomic Theory", you can't access a city's production screen anymore via big button or city label's right mini-window.

Manhattan Project, AutoTips, ... I hope you'll find out.

For the record, stalker0 is also having the same problem.

I realized I hadn't cleared ModUserData - I thought it was part of the cache - but did now, and it didn't help with no other mods installed, using both build 3 and my old 6.9. I will pass on the daunting alternative you suggested, and instead try re-verifying my files later today, along with loading my roommate's mod folder. Speaking of which, is there anything else you would recommend importing from her laptop? Last I checked, she didn't have this problem.
 
A situation where such a basic file loads on one system but doesn't load on another has never happened before, so it's new territory we're figuring out. There's got to be something we're overlooking! :crazyeye:

Thanks for the tip Mentos, I figured out what the problem is there. Firaxis forgot to create a GetProjectProduction function, like their GetUnitProduction and GetBuildingProduction functions. This is a problem because they decided to take the weird approach of putting wonders (a building) and projects in different tables, even though they're basically the same thing - one just can't be rushed. Since we don't have access to the c++ this is going to be difficult to solve... I'll ask around in the modding forum to see if anyone has idea.
 
To further confuse, but perhaps ultimately help, I checked the SP tree in v7.0 because I was curious as to how you ordered Commerce, and found that I had the vanilla SP tree (without any of your recent changes, including the changes to Order.)

I then started a game with the Ottomans and saw that it had the old Governance SA description. The American description is also not yet updated. The German one is updated, though, so I assume you just haven't rewritten the introductions.

Both. I will try re-downloading 6.9 as an experiment, since it worked for me until after I downloaded 7.0.
 
Seek - yes. But... some investigative progress. All of the following is with a cleared cache and ModUserData for each test.

A newly downloaded version of 6.9 works.

This was followed by a newly downloaded version of 7.0, which did not work.

I then went back to the previously successful version of 6.9, and found that it no longer worked.

So I downloaded yet another version of 6.9, and it worked again. I reloaded to see if the files it created would somehow corrupt it. And I added Info Addict plus Custom Notifications. It worked again.

So it seems that something in v7.0 is not just corrupted, but corrupts 6.9 once it runs afterward - even with a cleared cache and MUD. Weird, huh? But this should give you something to chew on.

And allows me to play 6.9 in the meantime!

I've been thinking about the vanilla project-bug and figured out a way to work around it. Although it's impossible to determine the progress on a project in the queue, we can figure out the turns remaining until a project completes with:

I noticed in the Mods folder you sent me in another thread, you've got several versions of the mod in the folder. Have you tried moving only v7.0 into the folder and nothing else?
