Preturn- We look alright.

T1 950

Byz and Inca have signed peace.

T2 925

A people known as the Ottomans complete SoZ. El-Amarna founded.

T4 875

Hieraconpolis founded.

T6 825

Our valiant galley "Leap of Faith" plunges eastward into the ocean. We have iron connected.

T7 800

Leap of Faith leeps into the waiting arms of death.

T9 750

Everyone now has Construction, we should be able to pick it up soon.

Summary

We are coming along. I have us building a few swords to give our small military a bit better punch, be they can still be changed to horses if you prefer. Next turn we get currency, and we should be able to pick up our missing techs with it. I'd say keep building our military up before we switch over to markets. After then end of the next set we may be ready for a quick war.

We are making progress. I have a few suggestions.
1. Change Thebes to produce a Settler and settle tile as indicated on map. You could move the citizen working the hills to the fish to gain another gold too.
2. When the "Big Picture" becomes available make sure to go to F4 and trade Currency to the other tribes. We do not want anyone else to get it before we can trade it and there is nothing to gain from waiting until our turn starts. Since they have a nearly perfect distribution of assets (for our needs) I suggest the following sequence if available:
a. Trade Currency for Construction and all the gold we can get from Byzantines.
b. Trade Currency for CoL and furs from Inca.
c. Sell Currency for as much gold as possible to Spain (have 172 gold now)
3. I prefer Horseman to Swordsmen. So would like us to change production to them. This is a major decision so we need to agree on what we are to produce.

We are spread a bit thin and long, so I'd rather have horses here as well. It'll be easier to punch quick wars with Theo and Pacha with horses, too.

I think Wotan's first two points are fine. As fas as builds go, I'm not one for mass changes of a previous player's builds. The debate of horses vs. swords is an old one and everyone on the team I'm sure is capable with kicking butt with either.

The save at 550BC

Pre turn all looks ok. Switch Thebes to a settler. Hit enter.

IBT- Currency in, trade it to Theo for construction, CoL and 45g. Furs from the Incas and all 172 gold from Isabella. Thebes settler>horse. Start min run on mono and lux to zero.

IBT- Spain finishes the GWall.

Turn 10 (550BC) Workers move a bit and done.

Post turn: Very slow going at this point. We have a couple horses and 3 swords. Theo will not give up Feudalism at this point. We have a horse monopoly.

pre-turn:
we are at peace with every one.
poor military (weak against all): 3 horses + 2 swords + 2 spears + 3 archers + 6 warriors + 6 workers.
capital produce 9 shields. MM it to 10.
change builds from temples to barracks.
reduce science to 0% and replaces taxmac to scientist (+1gpt)

IBT. byz get monarchy and start HG.

2. nothing much

3. move forces south.

4. rush temple in abydos.

5. inca got horses.
rush temple in Hieraconpolis

6. upgrade one reg warrior to sword

7. move forces and prepare to attack next turn.

8. declare war on byz
battle on Verna:
horse 4/4 vs spear 3/3 --> horse 4/4
horse 4/4 vs spear 3/3 --> spear 1/3
horse 4/4 vs spear 1/3 --> spear 2/4
horse 4/4 vs spear 2/4 --> horse 2/4. verna + dromon taken and destroyed.

9. battle for Adrianople:

sword 4/4 vs spear 3/3 --> sword 2/4
there are still major forces.

IBT - spain complete ToA.
Maya complete HG
we lost furs.

10. buy furs for for 10gpt from inca
sword 4/4 vs archer 3/3 --> sword 4/5
archer 4/4 vs archer 3/3 --> our archer 1/4

summery.
started war with byz. so far so good: razed a city and lost 2 horses.
byz do not have iron or horses.
I did not ally anybody against them because:
1. byz did not have money to ally against us.
2. the AI was too far away.

I started setting forces to attack Smyrna in two turns.
Adrianople had more defenders than I thought so I haven't taken it yet. I suggest re-grouping their and attack in a few turns.

noth that byz trade network is still up due to harbors.

I suggest sueing for peace when it is available to get a tech out of it.

Yes, sorry about the silence. Got it!
Will read up on the last turn report and play tomorrow evening (CET)

Thanks for reminding, I wouldn't have noticed :lol:

I couldn't find the time to finish my turn set yesterday evening so I had to play the last few turns today. Sorry about the delay. Nothing really important has occured "mapwise" so no map. Hope yoy are not to disappointed. i could post one later if you still want it?

Turn log

0 – 350BC Pre-flight
A couple of MMing issues. Pi-Ramesses can gain a food while still producing 2 shields. Byblos can gain a shield as it is just one food short of growing, no need to produce +2 food.

1 – 330BC.
Nothing worth reporting

2 – 310BC
Thebes MH -> HM
Memphis HM -> HM
Smyrna captured.

3 – 290BC
Heliopolis HM -> HM
Byblos Barracks -> HM
Killed an Archer, HM elite!

4 – 270BC
Nothing important.

IBT: Elite HM (on Mountain) defends vs. Archer but no Leader.

5 – 250BC
Thebes HM -> HM

6 – 230BC

Adrianople captured.
Byzantines knows Feudalism.

7 – 210BC
Memphis HM->HM
Pi-Ramesses Barracks -> HM
El-Amarna Barracks -> HM

8 – 190BC
Attacked Nicaea but failed to take it, 3 Horsemen survived out of the four attacking and 2 Spearmen killed so I am not that disappointed after all.

9 – 170BC
Moved in position to Attack Caesarea. Retreating from Nicaea.

10 – 150BC

Caesarea captured, 5 Workers captured (2 Settlers).

After action report:
Byzantines are not willing to part with Feudalism for peace. Maybe after we take Nicaea and Heraclea they will have a different answer.

Army: 7HMs and 5 SMs. With the reinforcements arriving in the next few turns this should be enough to deal with Byzantines.

A couple of Settlers would be nice. Maybe take one out of Thebes when it is at size 9 and do not shrink to size 6 again?

Indeed, sorry, was working yesterday :mad: I'm playing them right now.

Pre-Turns: Spices and 7g for wines from spain and we can reduce lux a notch.

T1: Move onto Nicae with the healed up horses, bulk of the SM healing down in Caesara.

IT: What an annoying Dromon.

T2: We need some MP, so Memphis HM->WC. Lost 1HM 1 SM taking Nicae

T3: Move onto Heraclae with the healed troops from home

T4: 3 injured arms, another HM down, Heraclae stands. Troops are starting to gather by constantinople.

IT: OMG the Dromon :mad:

T5: 1 HM dies, 1 promotes taking Heraclae.

IT: Disease at Abydos =/

T6: Move onto Constantinople. Theodora is close to signing for Feudalism, but not quite yet. My 2 cents that Treizbond will need to fall. Btw she is up Monarchy, Feudalism and Republic, so we have the total choice so as to what to take from her as a government tech.

T7: We get a MGL from some random scoundrel reg archer running up the field. As far as I'm concerned, we can win this war easily and then use the army for putting 3 knights in, so I will build army (we have another elite who could give birth) but not fill.

IT:

T8: Byblos HM-> Courthouse. We could use a FP somewhere too, since we soon could afford a break in military production.

Constantinople falls and we inherit the colossus, but we will need more drastic measures in the near future :whipped: to get Feudalism from her.

T9: We take out that last continent town and she will ponder for Feudalism. Now, however, is the question "To republic or not to republic?" coming to mind.

peace.jpg

If we want to republic things up, we might as well pay the little cash she wants for it (253g, she has a monopoly) and then get a discount on Feudalism with that. If we don't, we can have gold along with Feudalism.

My vote for Republic, but I shouldn't have to be alone deciding this at all, so have the extra turn, Grahamian.

got it, but may need a swap. if I don't post 10 turns by Tuesday at this time, please swap me with KB. I will be away on business till Thursday but should have a computer to play with me (however, this is not 100%).

It's tempting to take feudalism because I'm eager to have another go at the Incans. If we can pillage their iron source and fort a couple pikes on it, it's MI vs. spears. If we wait too long, he'll be upgrading all his troops.

I had a quick look at the save. Do we want to go republic or monarchy?
Whatever way we want to go we could take Republic and then trade for Monarchy and Feudalism from Spain(monarchy) and Inca (feudalism)
