A direct word to Atari/Firaxis on the Byzantine empire

The BIGGEST influence by far upon the Byzantine Empire was from the Greeks. Who else had much impact? The Bulgars? The minor Anatolian tribes? :p

well, it could be argued that it was late imperial Rome which had the biggest influence on Byzantium, which rapidlly took that intertwined it with Hellenism, and produced an indipendent culture who was the influencer, not the influenced... notg to say that ideas were not traded with other civs, but it just seems to me like people took ideas from the Byzantines more then the Byzantines took ideas...

also, I think that if the cataphract is not the official UU for Byzantium, the late roman/early Byzantine cataphract might make some sort of appearence, the latest unit shots, which feature both a crusader, and a long boat give me this hope :) (and the awesome new shot of the centurion, that was a cool. and made it look a lot like my avatar...:D)

mot I, and more then likelly no one other then Jeff ATARI, thouhj a better place to ask that question would eb one of the threads dealing with the new previews, and not one dealing with changing the Byzantine UU ;)...

Perhaps I should have said the greatest demographic influence on the Byzantines were the Greeks (along with a few Latins of various levels of wealth and priviledge :p).

depending on what era it was, the greeks could easilly be overshadowed by either the Egyptians, or the Anatolians (they werent Turks yet!)

For the vast majority of its existence the Byzantines only controlled Greece and Anatolia (or parts of them).

right, and Anatolia has a larger population the Greece dose...
