a good way to cheat for high final scores

Is this even possible? I thought hut results were random and that the random seed is preserved on reload...

EDIT: Just tested it in Warlords 2.0.8 and got the same thing from the hut five times in a row...writing this off as fishing for outrage unless this was changed in a recent patch.

to steppin razor: you can only do this cheat if you create a custom game. when the screen pops up that says "play now" at the top, choose "custom game" and make sure to check the box at the bottom of the special options drop-down menu that says "random reseed on reload" (or something to that effect).

to the other people who posted to this thread: i have decided to stop my cheating ways and just play regular. it's becoming too boring otherwise. i want a better challenge. it's just that i hate it when i'm building a wonder and get a bunch of gold instead. that sucks.

to the one person who called me a loser: i am a loser. a hard-core loser. but i'm trying to turn my life around. won't you just give me a chance.

There is custom option for either having random seed on/off...

Ah, minute too late. I don't have problem with anyone cheating in their SP games (it's their game, anyways) in way or another, but bragging of it here is kinda stoopid.

wow, what a classic thread.

haha, i especially enjoyed the signature. "smokey t bones ph. d. (in partyology)" lololol

edit: jeez, i just read this again and cracked up.
the climax for me was definitely PMabey's blatant: "what a loser"

Just take out their entire civilization with a unit or two. Even if you only have a 1% chance, just reload 100 or so times.

Hm, well...I've done it before, because it's fun to have a considerable technological lead in the game without having a clear conscience of "cheating" (cheating as in altering the game to a situation which does not naturally occur in-game). If I use worldbuilder, then I "clearly" know I've "cheated", i.e. altering game settings, but when I use reload, I am in effect pushing the undo button in the game; like fixing a mistake while writing an essay in Word. Then again, I play on chieftain, so I really shouldn't be worrying about it, seeing as how AI will be getting muskets when I roll in with Modern Armor...

And also, I used to think using Worldbuilder decreases your score; you know how it says like your score, then there's a final score? I used to think that was because I tampered with the game on Worldbuilder...then I learned it was because of difficulty level... :crazyeye:

a good way to cheat for high final scores (or just to survive in the top two difficulty levels) is to "hut cheat". choose a custom game and then save just before moving into a village hut, reloading until you get what you want.

for the first three or four huts, i keep reloading until i get a scout (more scouts early means more huts that get utilized). after that, i go for technologies or massive amounts of gold (80 plus per hut).

this is not very fair to the ai civs, but it means i'm guaranteed, at noble or lower levels, to utterly dominate the world, which i enjoy.

I used to do that for Civ3. I stopped when I realized that I was spending more time reloading than playing, and that I sucked because I always started at a huge advantage. Reloading that way is lame, but if you want to cheat yourself, then whatever.

Have you considered that you get bonus conversion of hammers to gold? It's better than producing Wealth.

The gold from a failed wonder can allow you to run at higher research on the slider. In effect, you have +10% to research, civ-wide, for some number of turns, but often it will be upwards of 50 turns. And you say that sucks?

Sometimes I even produce a wonder I have no intention of completing.

Sure, it would be nice to have the Pyramids, or whatever. But it's also nice to have added research. So, it's really a choice between two good things. Neither of which suck, IMO.

IMO pointless to cheat. the worldbuilder was put in the game for experiments and i dont think you should cheat for a high score. BTW i just got 100000 without the cheats or reloads.

I have a cheat that's rather along these lines. I pull out a deck of cards and play a game of solitaire. When it's done, I declare that I've just won an Immortal Marathon Conquest in 325AD, worth 875,235 points. Easy.

I only reload when I lose a critical fight that I'm supposed to win. For instance, if I lose a level 4 unit to a barbarian when I have a 95% chance at winning.

You wheren't supposed to win that 95% fight against the barbarian. :)

Your level 4 unit was supposed to die, on average, 1 in 20 fights. In general, you should use "less important" units for barbarian destruction (even if their odds are worse), and try to avoid risking your level 4 unit (whose job it is to let you build the heroic epic).

95% shouldn't mean 100%.

Yakk: I'm sure Silver Marmot reloads if he attacks with a "suicide" catapult at 5% and WINS too. Because it was supposed to die.
