Okay, so.. First of all I know people will tell me to use the search function, but quite frankly, well.. I'd rather have someone who knows this stuff better than me answer the question here, than my having to dig through a ton of stuff to find it elsewhere. So I'll do the n00b thing and just ask here, 'kay?

Now, about Spies. It says in their little drop-down blurb, "Helps Thwart Rival Spies". So I ask, how? I can't seem to find an explanation for it when reading the civpedia, but that may just be me being blind and/or otherwise incompetent of course. Either way, if someone could elaborate on how Spies defend against other Spies, I'd be much happy. I can imagine it has something to do with like.. I dunno, making it harder for spies to operate in their vicinity or something, but I'd like to -know- for sure.

You guessed well. If you have your own spy on one tile or inside the city, that will lower the chances of enemy spies succeeding in their missions....at least until you build a security bureau in a city, in which case the spy becomes useless since the bonus doesn't stack.

Also you can use spying for counter intelligence making enemy spy mission cost more spy points.

You spy staying on a plot increases your chances to catch a enemy spy on that plot (either while he's passing by or performing a mission). In a city Security Buero has the smae function. Multiple spy's are not cumulative, nor is Spy+Sec.Buero.
I dont know from memory how much the chance increases. There was a thread by Bhuric explaining the math. (Use the Search function :p :mischief:).

I have just tried the search function. It returns 12,500 results for "spy", 9,150 for "espionage", 2,340 for "spying", and 8,970 for "spies". The results are not dated and include many references to earlier versions of Civ.
The 8,970 include 426 for "using spies" and 527 for "catching spies": of the latter, 11 refer to Bhruic but do not show if he was the thread starter. So before going to search, be sure you have plenty of time to plough through a vast mass of mostly inapplicable stuff.
