Player since the first one civilization I was disappointed by civilization v all the improvements brought to this brand were to annihilate! I have even to reinstall civ 4! So I was deprived.
Gods and kings is real hope and I hope that he will save this brand.
A small list of the improvements that I think of being good to create a kind of géopolitical and geostrategical simulation, a fun game and a management strategy game of our period because the current means in term of development of games are exceptional.

The system of points for the diplomacy was reliable and logical (+1 -1)
the close civs historically should have a diplomatic bonus (+)
have to redo an agreement of passage everything 30 tours is stupid it should be to cancel by a civ, Also for pact of defense as in civ 4
The apostolic palace for the holy wars
the gifts(donations) of units via the screen of diplomacy
states vassals, the creation of colonies vassal
the ids for missiles nuclear power, missile antimissile as patriot
the possibility of creating a military base to store the units because you have to cross a friendly territory with your army to attack another civ it is impossible because too many friendly units on his territory It would be the only hexagon with units piled
the possibility of imposing a military base and naval base at a shy friend or of allying and at a defeated enemy and send a worker for build it
being able to send air units to a city with free passage
resolutions of the UNO
capacity to bombard improvements or road
airports, and air bases improvement
The possibility of infiltrating mercenaries with some gold and popular revolts create by spies (as in Syria lol) if the civ is unhappy
the possibility of asking a civ if his troops are at the border for an attack
and all this with a real depth!

I agree with that... however "diplomatic points" should NOT influence AI behavior, instead they should affect Happiness (your empire is unhappy when you declare war on your "friends" and make peace with your "enemies") and that should apply to both Human and AI players. (Who both should still be able to declare war whenever they want.

disagree.. civs that have mutually beneficial trade should have a bonus.. it should be easier to have that trade with someone nearby

have to redo an agreement of passage everything 30 tours is stupid it should be to cancel by a civ,
Agree

I think puppets do that well enough

probably too complicated

(although nukes should be made more "strategic weapons"... ie they only hurt the units that they are directly targeted at... but the tiles of fallout causes 1 :( and the destruction of buildings and pop is far more significant... single ICBM=should eliminate all non-wonder buildings and all but 1 pop)

- I like the idea of bringing back UN Resolutions and tile improvement bombardment, made economic warfare much more feasible without the hassle of sending in boots on the ground.

- WE NEED AIRPORTS BACK!

- Can we have more options when dealing with AI? I need the ability to request stuff, not demand. Also when I open border a neighbour to send in troops to intervene with a warmongering civ who I want to stop from becoming too powerful I would like a button expressing to the neighbour civ that my troops are moving in to aid them. Last game they just got all pissed off claiming I was about to invade them and I took diplo hits when I should have been getting bonuses from saving them from oblivion.

What's the point of having good relations with AI civs then?

What's the point of having good relations with AI civs then?

If I give an AI civ a gift, and that AI civ then attacks me, that AI civ has to deal with unhappiness.
On the other hand, if the AI civ then has a Research agreement with me, they might get a little happiness boost.

If I have been friendly trading partners with an AI civ for the past 2000 years, and they decide to attack me, they get a massive unhappiness penalty. (imagine what would happen right now if US forces stormed the UK Parliament and Obama appointed a new government... Besides the nasty actual war, Obama would probably have a few bills held up in Congress, if not getting impeached, ie everything would get much less efficient.. what happens with unhappiness in civ5)

The advantage of this system is the Same rule would apply to the Human player, so if you accept a gift from your next target, then you may have trouble when the conquest starts.
People involved in import/export will be unhappy when the trade with the Danes that made them rich stops because of your war with the Danes.
And it will be easier for you to attack "heathen/communist/nazi/imperialist/capitalist scum" than others that are more like you socially/religiously/etc.

This allows transparent diplomacy (I get definite bonuses/penalties for diplomatic action) without directly affecting the AI in a way the human player cannot be affected. (so that the AI can beat you diplomatically)

Episode (C)iV A New Hope :P

I hope thats what you meant in your OP.
