A night of BOTF!!!!!

Well what a night!!!

I was playing BOTF (Star Trek: The Next Generation: Birth of the Federation) last night.....and I was the Romulans, as usual

. And I was losing the game pretty badly. The Ferengi took 2 of my systems and the Klingons took another. So I'm down to my last system with 10 ships and an outpost in the sector. The other races that were allied against me (Federation, Klingons, and Ferengi) were flying around Romulus, but wasn't attacking.

Now.....I lost all my systems so I wasn't getting any money and my fleet maintance cost was putting me in the hole. I was at -$1360 when I decided to act. I took my 10 ships off Romulus to attack 3 Ferengi Raiders. Well I missed and ended up attacking 13 Klingon Ships.

I lost. I killed 4 and they killed all 10!!

So now all I had was an outpost. Which was destroyed the next turn. BUT I started earning $200 a turn. So I was trying to get out of the hole, so I could build ships....but then the Klingons started bombing me!!!

But I got out of the hole and also got a new tech!!! It allowed me to build Strike Cruisers. (I didn't think they were good at the time. But...well, you will see.) So I cloaked my new ship and moved a system away. (There were 6 Klingon and Ferengi Ships still over Romulus)

They continued bombing me and destroyed my shipyard!! This stranded my Strike Cruiser away from Romulus!! OH NO!!! Then after stealing $1000, they both left....only killing about 40 million. So I moved my strike cruiser back and then here comes the Federation. 6 Command Cruisers!!! They attacked my lowly Strike Cruiser. Now....Romulans have an advantage because the ships get a free attack, due to cloak, But this generally makes them weaker. So I uncloak and boom!! One CC down. But there are still 5 more. They ran!!!! I was like.....booyah!!! But on the next turn the came back with 5....I killed 2 more and they ran again. This repeated until they were all dead.

Now....with a free Romulus, I started rebuilding my fleet. Also building Outposts for extra protection. Now...I built a destroyer next, (3 turns to build, Strike Cruiser=11 turns!), and then another Strike Cruiser. (I was rush building most of these.) There were a few minor attacks....but I fended them off. Although in each attack I lost my outpost....but no ships....so I was still sitting pretty.

Now....I was at a peak. I had 3 Strike Cruisers, 2 Destroyers, and a Scout. Plus my outpost, and a Cardassian Cruiser (My allies. Only had one ship and one system.) I fought a few fights with the cardassian and he wasn't too bad.

Then there was 14 Klingon Battle Cruisers, 10 Ferengi ships, and a Federation Science Ship just outside of Romulus. Now my rag tag fleet of 7 couldn't defeat such a force. I got lucky....and they didn't attack. But I did rush build a Strike Cruiser......but before he was brought into service the 14 Klingon Battle Cruisers attacked!

So....the fight for my life began.....I got the free attack. (Which was really one turn of not getting shot at.) All 14 Klingon ships whaled on my Outpost. And I took out 2 Battle Cruisers in my attack. They continued their whaling the next turn and destroyed the outpost. I took out a few more. From there on it gets a little fuzzy.....but what I remember next is having 2 strike cruisers, and my scout, against 4 Battle Cruisers. I took out 3 of 4 and the last one ran.

I was victorious!!!! Romulans are still FREE!!! (I have screen shots to prove it

) Maybe I'll post those when I get home.

But what a fight!!!! A huge victory for the Romulans and an embarassing defeat for the Klingons!!!!!

Booyah.....Well...I better get back to work.

Well......the Romulan Star Empire has falled

After driving off the Klingons, I preceded to liberate Romulans under oppressive Ferengi rule. But the Ferengi didn't like that and proceded to retake the system. After they retook it they pointed their ships at Romulus.

My fleet of 4 Strike Cruisers, 1 Command Cruiser, 1 Destroyer and 1 Scout vs the Ferengi attack force of 12 Command Cruisers and 5 Raiders.

So.....7 vs 17. The odds are heavly stacked against me. We fought hard....and got down to 2 Ferengi Command cruisers against my Command Cruiser....but my shields are offline and hull intergity is down to 65%. The Ferengi ships have shields at 100% and 70%. So in a final stragering attack the Ferengi finish me off. But their fleet is too crippled to take the system. So I'm not out yet!!!

I start to rebuild my fleet again. But then the Klingons come along....with 20 ships and bombarded Romulus. I repelled the first attack, destroying 4 of the Klingon ships (with my orbital defences) They continued to seige Romulus and destroyed my Shipyard and Dilithum Refinery. (As you all know...the staples of a faring race.) And they conquered the Romulan Star Empire.

But we will RISE AGAIN!!!!!

Were you playing against an AI, in which case it did extremely well, or against a human, in which case they really failed to exploit their advantage?

I was playing a handicap game. Me and Cardassians at 3 and the rest at level 4 or 5. It was pretty tough. I started another game since as the Cardassians. Everyone on Level 1. I'm doing better than ever. I have a minor race member (Which is better than ALL my systems!) I have 3 other freindly minor races. But my ships suck. I had 4 destroyers against 2 Ferengi Raiders and an Explorer and I lost 3 ships before retreating!!! So I'm letting the Crystaline Entity take them out.

I was bombing a planet and killed like 10M people. Then The Crystaline Entity came along and almost finished them off but left them with 7M from the 70 they had!! And it's taking out Ferengi ships!!! It's sweet. I did lose a scout to it though.
