If you port to Beyond the Sword please don't forget about your plain CIV4 FHF2 fanbase. There are some that aren't planning on buying the expansion pack and if we are denied your brilliant modding work then we'll be devastated :( .

I don't think the games being retailed in my part of Australia and even if it was I don't think I have the funds for it to be honest. I know there are others out there in the same situation.

Thank you for such a great modification to play from me and the rest of the community :) .

The Fire stage will remain as a vanilla mod, and should be in pretty good shape before the team moves on.

I, for one, am quite eager to finally move beyond Vanilla.

Don't worry, .23 will still be vanilla, by the time you get BTS shadow will probably be pretty well iorned out and you won't have had to deal with the bus.

If you don't want, or can't afford BTS right away. Wait till ICE is complete, which will probably take a while. :p

And if Fire phase isn't enough for you, I'm continuing my work on cIVRPG, which will take place in the FfH world. And I won't move to BtS with it until I got a finished product on vanilla.

I understand where you are coming from. In fact its one of the reasons we never switched to Warlords (I didn't think that what we would gain was worth losing players, or forcing people to buy the expansion).

Remember that the cost of BtS is a price you will have to pay to play the new versions, but the team and I have to go through the much more difficult process of converting the mod. That is a huge task that is going to take a lot of time, effort and frustration. So I wouldn't convert if it wasn't really really worth it. You will have to trust me when I say that it is so very worth it, but I'll be glad to detail exactly why once BtS ships.

Secondly I am just a fellow gamer like yourself and as much as I love working on FfH I won't be able to maintain two versions. Which is why we scheduled "Fire" to end when BtS releases (so we have a mostly complete non-buggy vanilla version of the mod available) and "Shadow" to start on BtS.

At the end of the day converting to BtS makes FfH much better and we have to do what we can to make the best game possible. I feel for those that won't be able to play (I hate losing players) but there really isnt any other option.

Now that's some great advertising :)

I understand that you're under a NDA and can't comment on the changes that will be implemented, but it sounds as if they improved the source code (and possibly even the parts not accessible via the SDK) a lot, both for the vanilla game and in terms of modability. After all, you wouldn't be interested in scenarios, new vanilla leaders and units, would you? :D

Any word on a Luchuirp PC being piggybacked around on a golem?

Thank you for the polite and informative response Kael :) .

I guess i'll have to hold out and just play FIRE unless I get a chance to grab a version of BTS which in the short term seems unlikely :( . Perhaps a group of the FFH (I can't believe I spelled that wrong  ) community could realease small patches for FIRE once you move on to BTS. I'd be happy to be involved in such a project if I was a more capable modder. At the moment i'm just dipping my toes in what's starting to look like a very large ocean.

Yes, I will have a similar problem here in Thailand in that I will have to stick with what is available now for awhile.

I'm sure the pirated version of BtS will be readily available, but I won't buy and install that. In time a special registered Thai version (English game, Thai manual) will appear like with most games.

However, I will likely have to wait until my next trip to the USA (October) to purchase BtS.

Downloading (slow dialup connection) and mail order don't work either here.

Same here, BtS will probably be 1 month late and available only in larger cities (like other games) but I will definitely buy it (I wouldn't if it wasn't for FfH!) Only thing I'm afraid of- FfH 2 shadow will be included in BtS and I will have to wait 1 full month before playing it :(

I know it's hard to play an old version, especially as you see a feature list grow. But there's no rush, FfH will only get better, and if you don't start Shadow for 1 or 3 or 6 months after, you'll be getting a more complete, bug free version. (Bear in mind that major new changes will be a few weeks behind release most likely anyways.)

This is a good point and I have mentioned before in other posts that I still enjoy playing a Light game alternating days with a Fire, most current version, game.

I don't mind waiting to play the game, but the tough part is reading this forum and not knowing what the members are talking about. :(
