A random Earth map with perfectly placed random civ placement?

Ok...

I don't think what I am asking for is possible, but I think it'll work.

First, it's hard for me to play on real world maps if the cultures are incorrect. For instance, if Mongolia is in Africa and Songhai is in Alaska. I lose the sense of narrative that I need to get in 'the mood'. However, I don't like the idea of a fixed earth map with pre-placed civs, because then I KNOW exactly who my neighbors are.

Is there a mod out there that uses the random earth map, but also randomly positions culturally-appropriate civs in the places they are meant to be? This means that Mongolia will spawn in Mongolia and Songhai in West Africa. However, if you reload the game, you will get different opponents... there might not be Mongolia or Songhai, but very close to these civs, might live China and Ethiopia.

The placement doesn't have to be exact. It could just be that if you play as SIAM, you will start somewhere close to south-east Asia... if you play as Germany, you start somewhere in Europe. Again, it's just aggravating to see Cuzco in the middle east, but seeing Cuzco any place in mid-South America would be more acceptable.

So, in short... how do we play a random earth game that doesn't have random civs start entirely away from where they originated, by also having them be culturally linked to where they came from WITHOUT pre-game placement (so you know exactly which civ starts where)?

Mods.

1) Yet Another TSL Map Pack - you choose civilizations and map, and chosen civs or random ones appear in true start locations (unfortunately, RANDOM chosen civs are RANDOM so for example I once had a game when 80% of them spawned in Europe/Mediterranean :p )
2) Culturally Linked Start Locations ;) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=77191664&searchtext=cultural

1) For the YATSL map, is the map random? or is it an unchanging, unrandom map of the world?

Thanks!

Actually that isn't that difficult. .well .. don't hold me on it but it sound simple to do.

But it would probably need something more difficult.

Well Ig et what you're saying

That the earth map is randomised but in addition to randomising the terrain it also randomises which civs appear in the game but retains their "starting positions"

Actually, would it it not simply require a map script that would choose the "approximate" location for each civ based on map size?

I'm pretty sure the ITR randomised Europe actually has that.. because no matter how many times I play the locations of each civ is VERY "realistic" (i.e england starts in english area lands and etc.) instead of somewhere random.

On average Europe will much busier than other areas, but that can be mitigated by pushing some of the civs away into Asia and Africa if there are too many, and perhaps also blocking civs from being picked if there are too many civs nearby.

The pushing effect might be a little tricky to code. At its base, it would move each civ away from closest other civ (settler) until X tiles away, and if the civ cannot find a space to go far enough away from all other civs, take it out and pick another elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure the ITR randomised Europe actually has that.. because no matter how many times I play the locations of each civ is VERY "realistic" (i.e england starts in english area lands and etc.) instead of somewhere random.

Could be, but their starting biases may account for that.

Just as a specific, if I'm playing on Earth, I don't mind if (let's say) England spawns where Germany or Spain should be. It'll just be more jarring if they spawn in China or Brazil. Hence, the permanent position can be more relaxed/generalized.

Random civilizations sometimes choose the same civilizations. For example, in the latest random civilization games that I've had I recall seeing ahmad al mansur as another civilization while I have had China chosen for me twice already. The point? Random can sometimes choose the same civilizations twice.
