We know that you can build an observatory in a city adjacent to a mountain, but I noticed that you can also build it if your city is adjacent to Grand mesa. It probably works for Mount Fuji as well, and possibly other natural wonders. Can anyone confirm the non-Mesa ones?

Any city adjacent to a natural wonder will be able to build an Observatory (+50% science), which is great.

Thanks for that tip! I really like the more realistic mountain ranges in Civ V, with the exception of making observatory cities often gimped in terms of tiles. That hint really cushions the blow.

And how the heck are you bulding an Observatory on Old Faithful? Would be kinda counter-productive :-)

Every twelve hours or so the observatory is flung into the air by Old Faithful (I mean really..think about how big that geyser is that you can see it clearly from your view point in space...) So maybe then it shouldn't give the full +50% bonus... since it's not in the air the entire time
