A world without Marble is like...

...So I've finished exploring the world, run up the flag and maps everywhere, and to my amazement, there is not one single "Marble" site!

And that wasn't the first time, either. I also only found one "Stone" source. So I'm puzzled. Is that deliberate, to have worlds that simply LACK a given resource? This has only happened with Marble.

Any thoughts on this subject?

Sometimes when I play a small map, there is only one banana.

I have exterminated whole civilizations for control of that banana.

I've also found Marble and maybe more so stone are rare resources on the maps I play. Usually fractal.

I rarely get stone, lucky its useless. A bit weird though, considering the rarity of stone in real life :S

Who hasn't committed crimes against humanity for bananas? Be honest.

They are probably on the bottom of the resource spawn and not as common as other things, FFHII has this problem occationally with regents and often with Mithril because they are on the bottom of the list of things to place and rare in and of themselves.

If you play with balanced resources turned on, then you get no marble ... zero ... the code removes it from any tile while it is balancing the other resources.

I think this only occurs within a 40 tile grid of your starting location so if you up the number of players, then you can completely remove marble from the whole map.

Awesome, so the AI builds the un-discounted wonders and we build the military units.

So I should not play with "balanced resources" turned on! :)

I've found silver to be a common absentee from my games. Sometimes there's very little land in the polar regions of the map where this stuff usually spawns.

I just had a game (fractal) where two neighboring AIs both had double marble in their starting cross. :crazyeye:

Some of the map scripts have numerous missing resources. For example, the Great Plains map lacks Crab, Ivory (Ollies and Whales), Rice, Bannans, and I think Dye and Spices as well (not 100% on those two).

Health becomes a bit of a pain.

Yeah. At least Silver can spontaneously spawn in an existing mine.

Yeah. At least Silver can spontaneously spawn in an existing mine.

Especially, since it usually spawns at the beginning of the game in inhospitable (read Tundra) environments.

Last game i played had no uranium on the entire map... Thank God since I had quite a few Warmongers unhappy with me :)

No horses spawned in my previous map. It was a crammed map with balanced resources, so I guess every plot got stripped. Oh well... there was still a hell of a lot of fighting. Sorry Egypt, Mongolia, Russia, and Persia-- better luck in your future endeavors.:p
