Under what circumstances would abandoning a city be the right thing to do? I can imagine some cases, but thought I'd throw this out for discussion. Thanks.
I abandon cities for one of 3 reasons:
1. It is undefended and the enemy is at the gates. I'd rather not take the war weariness hit if it is captured or razed. In some cases I will give the city away to one of the other civs. Especially if I plan to soon be able to capture it back.
2. It is a large city I have recently captured and the flip risk is too large.
3. I am very close to the domination limit and need to give back a few tiles to avoid getting a domination win.
