About Earth Goddess

Anyone got an impressive screenshot? Should they make the pantheon not affect mountain tiles?

It's not super impressive but here's my current game (some mods). Inca, earth goddess, a fair amount of mountains getting earth goddess income

With Earth Goddess, and a natural 2 production, mountains are very similar to Russia's tundra bonuses, only doubled. Add in holy site adjacency which works being surrounded by mountains and they seem like a really good religious civ now.

Last time I played the Inca, they were my first game with GS and I took them to a scientific victory, but next time I think an RV is in the works.

Sure, but they're always Mountains. No food, no forests, no resources. Always 2 Production, 2 Faith plus whatever Food you can get from adjacent Terrace Farms. They're not bad tiles at all, but they aren't really OP, either.

I don't think they're OP, but since terrace farms provide all the food you need, you have extra tiles to work, so if you're going for RV, having 2p/2f is pretty good. You get 2 faith from a stepwell next to a holy site, which you have to use a builder charge for, and you can't build them next to each other. And I like stepwells too, they're great for RV with India. This is even better than that.

There's also how mountains provide appeal to adjacent areas too, so you can get 2 faith on many non-mountain tiles.

Edit: While I prefer to finish my religious games before the Eiffel Tower comes into play, if you do build it, your Earth Goddess mountains now have 4 faith each, doubling the original yields. That should provide enough of a faith boost to finish off a religious game.

Inca gets ENORMOUS populations though, more than any other civ in the game probably. You have terrace farms on turn 0 and due to your mountain start bias you are likely to have multiply 5 or 6 food tiles immediately. Plus internal trade routes will give tons of food.

So you'll be working lots of those mountains before long, believe me...

Those terrace farms and internal trade routes are no joke. It's so easy to get an Inca city to 10 pop. From there you can run the Simultaneum card which gives bonuses for 10 pop and +3 holy site adjacency, super easy. As Russia, I'll have a ton of lavras across the tundra, but very low pop so I can't exploit that card to it's advantage. I think with a very heavy mountain map, Inca could give Russia a run for it's money with religious victory.

Not sure what you mean about the Eiffel Tower bit. I think EG just gives 2 if it's breathtaking, full stop

Use Free the World as Russia. As long as you have fresh water or an aqueduct you're easily 10+ pop.

Nope. It adds +2 appeal across all your tiles.

I like FTW, but prefer Choral Music. You can get up to 10 pop, but only in certain places. As Russia, I'm settling everywhere in tundra, so I can get full adjacency from Dance of the Aurora for my lavras. So I'll be settling off river, and that makes housing a problem.

Earth Goddess gives +2 Faith to breathtaking tiles. Eiffel Tower will create more Breathtaking tiles, but it will not make existing ones give more faith.

You're right. I concede gracefully.

Yeah, but I don't think that makes EG give more faith. They're not like seaside resorts or neighborhoods whose bonus scales to the exact appeal

Yes you're right. I'm doing theorycrafting over practical use.

Get the Governor that let's you make city park tiles to boost the number of breathtaking tiles you have.

That works well with earth goddess but there are so many more governor titles I'd rather buy... I often do end up with city parks but not until lategame when +2 faith here or there won't matter much

2 parks can equal 12 breathtaking tiles which equals 24 faith. Do that in 5 cities and 120 faith a turn which is nothing to sneeze at. Also the same Gov can prevent climate damage to the city. If you have a city next too a very active volcano you will save yourself a lot of aggravation.
