How good are MP games in EU2?
I have played and enjoyed Civ2 MP games, PTW MP game (no s) and can see how they work but with the time frame that EU and EU2 is played through it doesn't seem feasible to play and enjoy an online game....anyone got any insight?

Battles in EU2- lacking?
I am disappointed by the lack of units you can pick from - Infantry, Cavalry, and for water: Warships.....not much tactics involved with so few choices. While Civ2/3 isn't very realistic you do have a range of units and special abilities. Does this really not matter for the type of game EU is?

Just so you know:
I am not bashing EU1/2, I am actually enjoying it very much, just feel like there is something missing to the game - maybe it is just my understanding of it that is missing out.

I'm not sure as I've had limited experience although if you started on one of the later campains then it might be more fun on Multiplayer as there would be less time sitting around just expanding. There are different tech levels for the military and they do take into account factors such as suprise (I believe) as to who will win so its not that simple

I played EuII a lot but never in MP ,did try it once but there were just not much people to play with.

It doesn't matter really much. These are just the four type's of troops you had in this time.Cavaley ,infantry ,artillery and ships on the sea.But ,they are different from eachother in the sence that youre domestic policies and youre technoligy affect's the power and effectiveness of these unit's.
For ex. if you put youre domestic policies to max aristocracy ,youre cavalery will be much more effective.Max plutocracy will make youre infantry much more stronger.Max naval will give you better sea force's ,will max land will give you better land force's ,...
Also ,youre religion ,moral ,stabilety and leader's will affect how good youre army's will fight ,in addition to terrain.
Youlle see that some province's have mountains ,while other's plains and even other's forests.Mountain's give defensive bonusses especially if you have lots of artilery on it ,plain's and grassland are better for cavalery ,while cavalery sucks in forests.
Troops landing from ships into a province that has an enemy army in it will have a serious dissatvantage ,unless the country is more naval or has a naval technoligy advantage ,with kinda simmulates marine's.And afcourse troops maintainance will affect youre troops to.

and religion ,like shiite nation's have a combat bonus of 50% for their troops ,but technoligy research costs more.
Army's of reformed nation's have a higher morale than army's from a catcholic nation.Counter reformed catcholic's have a big combat bonus to.

It take's some time to understand the game fully. At first i was a bit dissapointed about those things to ,but know i know the whole scope of the game and all it's function's i can only say it's one of the best game's ever made.

As I've said before, I've played only EU, not EU2, but I believe the games are fairly similar. I have to say, EU was and is one of the best games I've ever played, but then I do like slow-moving long-term strategy games, so it wouldn't be suitable for everyone.

As DoF says, it takes a while to get into, but once one does, it's very hard to get out of. A bit like Imperialism was, I suppose. Ah, that was another great game...
