Have any of you been trying games with Abundant resources on?
One of my big gripes with the AI (outside of combat) is that they don't seem to upgrade their units and they don't expand when all indications seem they should. I see this behavior even when they have created settlers -- they just aren't settling. I thought maybe this was because of an amenities crunch, so I tried a game with abundant resources.
On my Immortal game with abundant resources on, I'm seeing a ton of expansion. Various Civs have satellite outposts across the map and for almost everyone they have units appropriate to the technology era they're in (and usually if they don't it's only one behind and in a Corps). There also seems to be a lot more fighting and actual conquering of cities, which I haven't seen much of in most of my games.
Obviously it makes settling for resources as a human player not as effective but I'd rather help the AI than help me at this point.
Has anyone else tried this and seen these results? Or am I just getting a lucky game?
