Access Denied

I installed the game and whenever I go to play a screen pops up that says access denied : please login with administrator privilages and try again. There is one one user on my computer which makes me the administrator. I went to check out _Civ4Config which is just a short-cut file and i clicked on it and it said it was missing... man this is sooo wierd.. someone please help

The "Microsoft requirement" is that to be a 'certified for microsoft windows' game, the save game files must be stored in "my documents\my games\".

Try this:
Make a short-cut to C-IV.exe. Right-click on it, and choose 'properties'. In the 'shortcut' tab, where is says target, add the following on the end:

/ALTROOT=.

(including the period '.' at the end). This will get Civ4 to create save files in the Civ4 directory, not the My Documents one. It might work....

Can you try rebooting? Otherwise, try uninstalling then reinstalling. If there is only one account, then perhaps you could try making a second account (under 'users' in the control panel) that is an admin account, and installing from there?

Well, this isn't specifically for Civ4, but it a similar problem from the tech support of some other game - might want to try it:

Have you installed SP2? You could alternatively booth with your XP CD in the drive and try a 'repair installation'.
