Acid_04: The final frontier

You said that fighters were the counter to gunships. I don't understand. Do you mean with airstrikes? Aren't SAM the counter to gunships? I ask because i want to learn.

They ought to make Gunships immune to collateral for realism's sake.

Good game so far. Hatty, Shaka and Wang seem like the popular trio for the deity games I see lately. I don't think military victory is lost for you as of yet.

lol i think we are very unlucky in this game in terms of who our opponents are... Shaka, Alex, Toku, i mean come on there doesnt exist worst combination... every one of them is known for huge stacks ... i guess we'r only missing JC in this sour soup

well, mutineer gave you few things to think about, and i agree now that we have biology and happiness under control, we should deff. draft/whip some infantry.
In my opinion, if Alex attacks Shaka, it would be good to declare on Shaka as he won't have enough firepower to handle both of us. The timing would be tricky but it can be done.
I guess it's after you to make some choices here.

Boring turnset...
"Highlights" if you can call them that:
Switched to Nationhood for 5ish turns and did some drafting.
Fired specialits to increase growth.
Started founding some new cities to fill in the gaps.
Cashed in the merchant for 1100G... crappy. Decided to spend it on research rather than upgrades (we can generate that much g in 3 turns of 100%g)
I was running mass Artists in Boston, but the GP came out as a Great Engineer, sent him to chill in Thebes.

Traded Biology+340g to Alex for Physics (1 turn invested), next tech = Artillery.

Tokugawa showed me his shiny tanks. No artillery though.

On my final turn Tonsberg became and island, due to Shaka's borders expanding and completely surrounding it. It has 10 infantry in it and all the upgraded units.

I accidentally ended the last turn but didn't move anything. Also we hit #1 in score. With coal plants coming on-line it seems plausible to just kill everyone to victory - especially with some bomber abuse. I didn't check on the new turn, but on the previous turn Shaka was chilling - didn't have enough on his hands.

I focused a lot on farming and growing so the next player might want to rein in some of that. ALSO, I think it might be time to switch to Slavery to beat some submission into the new cities - they could do with whipped in granaries, courthouses, forge, factory, coal plant etc...

So overall a boring turn set but a reasonably productive one. I think we should continue to Artillery because without our own Artillery Shaka's artillery will eat us alive - Machine Guns are frigging useless because Artillery get +50% vs them and Marines get +50% vs them and Infantry are better against pretty much everything except infantry. So I didn't train any machinegunners.

Seems Shaka got a great artist before we did, argh. Never thought I'd say that. Now Tonsberg is just a liability, at least we don't have as many as 30 units in it.

OK I'm up I guess. Any thoughts. Arty and flight for warring or UN? We have an Engineer and could build it ourselves I guess. Haven't looked at the save.

From a quick look I am in favor to revolt to slavery and whipe missing infrustructure.
WE really wasting time there. Castle system is useless for as I belive, as whipe theater/library/ tample or 2 and you have same culture like 2 artiests give, add 2 artists avalible from theater and we got even. New cities did not build anything with out slavery!

and factories/coal planse should had been whiped in food ritch cities, but they were not.

As I see, there only 2 ways we can win.

Build UN or take over Shaka. Bouth are questenable, as Toky has mass media for ever, and Shaka army supper strong.

Toky and Alex bouth still have to mach on there hand, when the hell they declare on some one?

AS I see it, we need to run for tanks or fright, the question is how many gunships Shaka will have?

Well, we soon can build Arty, but I do not see any tacktical way to declare war.

About posible war: Too many of our units now trapped. :(

I if we do go to war, I see use for Wang, if we give him absolute units, let them upgrade them, make so he has stack of 20-30 units(support him with gift of gold and some Gold per turn, so he do not decide to disband them) and then declare.
Tell him to attack some city. As he move stack to shaka land, follow our stack behind.

Shaka used his units to kill wang stack - we clean up damaget units.
Wang get most of war wareness and he has a huge bonus to it. WE get sucrificila stack for our absolute units and little gold. Win/win situation.

Did we build Mounth Roshmore yet and some spyes? I really want to see what he is up to.

muti, your idea is good...and about Mt. Rushmore, I made sure it was built during my last turnset

Just to update you on turn 0 I revolt to slavery and whip a few things and when I hit enter Toku declares on us and lands tanks on our far western boarder, City defended by 1 rifle. Much of our army is trapped in Zululand and I can't switch out to nationalism for 5 turns. This may take a while. He was friendly. Very smart thing for him to do by the way. If Shaka jumps in we are finished.

I will stop for comments. Alex won;t join and we have nothing to offer anyway. We might loose a city and will lose all of our sea resources to battleships but since he has to transport troops by sea we will surive w/o too much damage I hope.

Sulla claims it is not possible and has code to prove, but I could swear it happened to me twice. I will have to pass your save along to him :)

It is a new improved AI. He was friendly and wouldn;t open boarders or trade tech or declare war, everything was red "we just don;t like you enough". I don;t know why we put effort into cultivating him, we gave him tech, as it got us nowhere.

It is ridiculous that the new AI behaves like that. I thought Toku used to open borders at Friendly. This leader is worth nothing to anyone in any game, except as distraction for other civ (bribery atc) and a source of gold.
