So a recap will have to do.

Alphabet Completed, Wang Kon is the only one who will trade with us, he'll give us Mathematics, or IW + Something.... I defer until later, but check back each turn to make sure the Mathematics deal is still there.

Took the chariots and looked at Washington:

Too much unit, really...

But he moves some out, so I bring in about 10 chariots and take the city with only a couple of losses, also killing a couple of units in the open as they scampered in to try and reinforce the city.

Research path has been Masonry, Mysticism, Polytheism...

The next attack is against Boston and goes badly, it was garrisoned with 1 spear and 1 axe. I attacked with 5 chariots and lost 3, the spear died at least.

Two turns later I come back and take it losing only 2 chariots (it had been garrisoned with a sword and archer)... War Chariots are totally balanced...

Um don't piss off this guy, k? War Elephants and Hwacha's are not a fun combination to fight........ ever..... with anything....
If Ragnar dares attack Wang Kon now, Ragar will get ground into paste and probably pushed out and possibly destroyed. Do not be underestimating Wang Kon and his sick UU.

That's where I leave off. There's another iron which should be pillaged or something at that American city.

The full Alphabet trade is still available with Wang Kon, either trade for something (Mathematics or Iron Working) or hold off to get us a bigger lead on the Great Library.

Roosevelt wants peace now. He'll give us a few junk techs, could probably wring a bit more out of him than what he volunteers.

I think we should make sure the feollow survives with some cities, so we can extort him money and techs.
Can we get Ragnar and Wong to fight each other?

I think we should make peace and trade alphavit befor it is to late. We need to go to builder mode now I think.
Based on Sum of tech America offered we can ask for Iron working and pottery. Start to build granaries/libraries everywhere. WE need workers.

I think we got all we can from our UU.

Lets try and assign scientists ASAP.

Capture Philadelphia ( we don't have Hindu in any of captured cities yet, right?) and maybe raze most of the other cities. We need to choose which side we on, Ragnars of Wangs?

Where's Shaka? East, beyond Ragnar? I'd be more inclined to go after Wang in this case and ask Ragnar to join us. That would leave us with nice empty land on the left, and only one front to watch for attacks.

I guess I am up. I will play tonight or tomorrow. BTW great job with the war chariots. It looks like we should stop soon but I haven't seen the map. Has no religion spread to us yet. I think we definitely want to go with the Hindus Shaka and Wang are 2 people we are not going to attack soon. Rangar and Rosey on the Jewish side. Do we want Atlanta to get Hinduism for sure. At a glance I would say no as it looks like a crappy site and we must be $$ extended at the moment.

I seriously doubt our ability to fight Wang Kon without a lot of catapults, which are basically the only unit capable of standing up to Elephwacha.

I think we have to pray that Wang Kon and Ragnar fight each other, then we can look at piling onto one of them.

Certainly do some scouting and check if Wang Kon has a stack of doom gestating somewhere....

If you still want me, I will join in this madness (deity is very easy to lose due to no fault of your own...) Since it's warlords, I even get to keep my 100% vanilla SG record intact

Pre Turn : OK we are bleeding 28 gp/turn and Boston/Washington have not come out of resistance yet. Ouch. We have no copper. IW we can get in peace but what if we have no Iron. A mined plain at Atlanta indicates that it might not be so crappy a city.

Diplo: We are trading with Wang (Hindu) and have OBs. Shaka won’t trade but is Hindu. It is clear to me the Hindu block will prevail on this continent..

Power: Shaka is first then Rangar. Wang is rather weak

Trading: Have Alphabet on Wang and Shaka but Shaka won’t trade. Rangar won’t either.

Plan: Take Atlanta (no-brainer as it has iron and we are dead without it), Convert to Hindu and hope Shaka will trade. Make peace for techs. Trade Alphabet to hopefully both Shaka and Wang. I fear Wang might get Alphabet soon.

Since I am new to this group and since I think this is a critical point, I guess they all are on deity, I will ask for input on the plan. Can take Atlanta in 1-turn probably. Could even press on and take Philly probably with some losses but we will be massively over extended for $$.

Questions on the plan;

Stop at Atlanta or press on to Philly? I actually think I favor pressing on to Philly.
Do you think Shaka will trade with the +1 for being Hindu or is he a version of Toku. If we can’t get him to trade in 2 turns we should take Math from Wang now as we don’t want to lose that trade. Also should probably stay atheist to avoid provoking Rangar and build infra while preparing to grab some booty in a Hindu-Jew war.

OK. The more discussion, the better.

We do know we have iron at Washington. I would take out both Philly and Atlanta (i'm not sure about this however). It's a killer for our economy but I am aiming for whipping libraries and assigning scientists in all cities.
I agree for taking Math with our Alphabet. We need to chop and build mines in capital, but we need math before we chop. We also have marble so I doubt anyone will get it before us. I guess we can get IW from Roosevelt.
As far as religion goes. I think its imperative not to annoy Shaka and Ragnar. We should do more exploring south and east. As far as long term plan goes, I am for attacking Wang. Notice that our cities almost form a ring around Wang, so by closing borders, we effectively stop his expansion on west side of the continent. Since Ragnar and Shaka will be pleased with one another no matter the religion, I am for adopting Jud. But not yet, we don’t want to annoy Wang.
Shaka is watered down version of Toku as far as trading goes...

Lets hear input from others.

I ron mine was pillaget at Washington.
Take cities or not in my mind depends on what we can do with existing army.

I do believe we need to switch to builder mode.

I am sure Washington will give Iron working and Pottery for peace.
Religion wize - not yet. I probably take this hindy city just in case.
Trade wize we need Math for Alphavit. If we can it would be nice to get Monarchy if avalible. Priesthood cheap.

edit: Wang's Hindu shrine will help us...

I like taking on Wang from a geogrraphic view he is the best bet but he is protectionist and is already at construction with WE and we don't have a single metal based unit and are fast going broke. Given his tech pace by the time we would be in position he will have LBs in place. Now if Rangar attacks to weaken him great but we can't control that. He wouldn't take alphabet to attack, I checked and I don;t see us with the techs to make him anytime soon, if ever. Rangar is more powerful and seems to be getting ready for something, if it is us soon we are in trouble. I would say we take Atlanta and Philly, make peace, whip libraries/granaries and start building up an Iron based military for either Rangar or Wang depending on how things play out. I don't see us fighting more wars alone but we will need to keep our power up and be ready to get into any war that happens.

mark, I took a screenishot indicating that Washington has iron, most likely pillaged in the meantime. So, we do not need Atlanta now. It's a crappy place but we could raze it and keep Phila for now...

Agree with Wang as long term target, but for now let's get the GLib and start getting our economy in shape
