Adaware SE released

Start/Run -> msinfo32. When it loads, click on Software Environment, and select Running Tasks. This will give you the directory, usually, of the processes that are running. Might be useful in deleting them, assuming that they don't reinstall themselves when you log back in.

So MC, your computer is still being used for file sharing? I notice that DC++ seems to be running.

That my older brothers computer. He likes to dl music. He has peer point manager, P2p networking, Kazza, and DC++ on it. :crazyeye:  Kazza is currently not usable as the ads won't show :) I hvae the most updated verrsions of spywareblaster and spywareguard and spybot S&D. Yet the crap still gets on. The computer has a 1.80Ghz processer and 256MB of RAM but is as slow as hell.

Hmm, must try that.

A big part of the problem is the P2P and Kazaa...I have a co-worker with a massive problem but won't give up either.

Couple of things....

There is a new build (already) for AdawareSE. The earlier versions were identiying a vital Mozilla .dll as bad stuff. If you deleted it, you disabled Mozilla. Go to Lavasoft or MajorGeeks for the lasted build.

Better instructions for set-up and use of AdAware are here. The link also includes an explanation for why MarineCorps' avast went nuts when he ran adaware.

As for the running process list here is a link to a startup list that can be used to find and delete potential problems - http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/

Already 10 step ahead. I went to the Lavasoft forums and found other people also having the same problem and they were told to DL the newest build. :) And I also saw that the reason avast went nuts was because adaware opens files and then AV programs detect them then. :) I'll bookmark that link and take a look at it tonight on the problem computer. And yes I know about kazza. My brother (he is at USMC OSC :) right now, I have about a week longer to fidle around with his computer before he gets back) won't listen to me.

Yep, that happened to me heh. Had to system restore so Firefox would work again. :( At least I only had to go back to yesterday, so it wasn't too bad.

*updates Ad-Aware.*

Run HiJackThis and save the log. Go to spywareinfo.com, TomCoyote.com, spywarewarrior.com, Lavasoft or net-integration and post it in one of the forums.

Heading to one of those soon. :)
