For a long time I try to implement "destroy mission" for missionaries. I tried to track down how TheLopez was able to add a mission, but failed :(

Earlier, I managed to limit religions to 3 (here's the link - post 8th:http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=183537), and I want to merge them into single one.

I search for any help/feedback/pointer. I can mod .xml, other extenstions can cause me some problems. I tried to search through tutorials section but I realy don't know where to begin :(

Implementing missions require SDK work. Check out this tutorial:

Give it a read-through. If you're getting lost, then you're probably best trying to go another route. I would suggest Action Buttons, which allow you to make buttons that work like missions using python.

Are you talking about a mission to remove a religion from a city? If you are I just want to let you know that I am working on a new inquisition mod with a twist...

@Gerikes: Thanks, working Action button will be enought and I shall work on this unless..

@TheLopez: I must admit I enjoy your mods much, so I'd probably use yours ;)
Do you plan do do something "big", like creating Inquisitor unit again? I'd like to help if you could use some.. (However, I'll probably be off tue-fri)

Here are my views on religion. IMHO, earlier, under organised religions (not pagan politheism) having more then one religion in a city/civ was quite a problem, expecialy during some "civic's time". In civ4, multiple religions give almost only advantages: ability to swich to increase relations, later big boost to happiness under Free Religion (making it obvious and only choice as religious civic late in-game)

Here are my proposals:
-give each non-foreign religion -1 to happiness through GlobalDefines.xml
-(probably) also give boost for happiness for state religion under Paganism and Pacifism (as religion doesn't cause so many problems under these civics)
-give Missionaries ability to "Destroy Religion" in a city (as I think that Inquisitor unit is too much: one religion unit will be sufficent, and won't require another building; also missionary will gain a little more flexibility)

This will give more options for players, yet another possibility to choose:

-choose Paganism/Pacifism; religion won't have big impact on your empire (other then civic's effect)

-choose Organized Religion/Theocracy: play similar to European Middle Ages-you get a lot of adventages (civic-included), but you have to pay some attention to religion. Religion Wars are more likely, and, as civs tend to go in "blocs" (more difficult to convert a country), it creates similar culture-clash conflict as European Middle Ages.

-choose Free Religion: as written above, it's not as obvious as late-game choice as earlier (anyway, we see many countries today that don't share free religion and gain some benefits - Iran makes fine example), and civ that don't use it wont be severly penalized.. It's a choice for plyayer who don't want to focus on fighting religion, or is tired/unsuccessful in doing so ;). Or for the one that too many tried to convert.. It will greatly depict today Western Societies, multicultural and multireligious

Anyway, that's my 0.02 :) And if you won't use it, I'll probably use your mod..or modify it, under permission ;)

Cheers:beer:

Once again, TheLopez reveals his 'bot' nature with an announcement of a new mod coming out right on the heels of his last one ;) :p. I too absolutely LOVE everything he has put out for the Civ community, and Firaxis could do a LOT worse than implementing at least a third of his great changes.
His work also continues to be a major inspiration to me, as I struggle to become even a fraction of the modder that he already is :).
At this point, I will cease my slavish praise before TheLopez goes a very deep shade of scarlet ;).

One of the things I am hoping to do-as soon as I can get the coding to work properly-is to seperate religious civics into Doctrine and Relations. The former defines how the State Religion effects the cities it occurs within-so an Ascetic Doctrine improves the health and happiness of State Religion Cities (lots of Yoga, incense and self-denial), wheras a Fundamentalist doctrine makes it easier to control those of the Faith, but at a cost to research.
The latter is how your religion-and nation-impacts on other religions and nations. So an Evangelical civic would give you a Missionaries without the need for Monastaries, and a bonus to religion spread generally, but at a cost of non-state faith happiness. An Insular Civ might have no non-state religion spread, and a bonus to culture in state-religion cities, but at a cost of reduced religion spread and/or an inability to build missionaries.
Hope that makes sense, and here's hoping that I can make it a reality.
