Advance Start question

hey all,

Gonna start a new game and going to try the Advance start. Just wondering, how much gold does everyone set the value to when they start the game? I'm gonna play on a large Terra world.

I guess, I don't want to set it too high in case I get some super powerful neighbours at the start so whats a good value on a large map?


also, I see you can purchase techs on the advance start.. what determines a founding of a religion if I purchase meditation and another AI purchases it as well? Luck?

I usually just go with the default amount...

Random determination of religions. You'll usualy get it though, from my experience.

You get a certain amount (Depending on the map and difficulty) Plus an extra commerce you dont spend buying units and cities. More gold = More starting commerce/stuff. Be warned, EVERYONE starts with this ammount to buy things.

I've set it to 100,000 before. Epic games. But usualy the set amount is good enough to accomplish a start. Advancing the Age also increases the set amount given by the Civ4 Program.
