Advanced Setup Button Crashes the Game

Am trying to start a new game today (post patch), but every time I click on the Advanced Game Setup button to tweak a couple of game play options, my Civ-5 immediately crashes.

It does not produce a crash minidump file, though, nor do the lua.log and database.log files contain any useful insights. I've just now verified my game cache via Steam, which replaced three files, but that did not fix the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this particular problem, and if so, have you found a fix or work-around?

Okay, after some trial and error, I think I've narrowed down the source of the crashes.

I was using about 15 mods, most of which had safely been used before the latest patch, so started disabling them one by one. It seems that using the unit graphics mod called R.E.D. Modpack seems to be the culprit.

Was really hoping to use R.E.D., as I've heard good things about it, but it either doesn't work properly post-patch or doesn't like some of the other mods I'm using.

Oh, well - back to playing my first post-patch game as Russia. (and keeping my fingers crossed that Leader Heads will display properly).
