adventurer unit as reward

I had found adventurer unit as a reward from dungeon.

The problem is, it can not be upgraded neither to warrior, nor to scout (like standard Grigori hero). WAD or bug?

Do you have it in your city/cultural borders and do you have enough gold to upgrade it (75 iirc)? I don't think they can be upgraded in the field.

I've also found an adventurer unit (current version, latest patch) and was able to upgrade it in city radius with enough gold.

Ah, cultural borders...
I don't remember but it might be that I actually failed to bring the unit withing them...
