Advice for Newbie

Hello;

I have two questions.

1. I have played a few games and once I reach the Industrial age I am finding that I cannot obtain resources as easy as in the beginning. For example after getting the Repalceable Parts tech I cannot obtain rubber to upgrade rifleman. I

I usually find myself having to start a war to obtain it and hopefully winning. By then the AI has it and has upgraded to infantry. I usually wait a few turns before looking for it but it usually ends up in the middle of the AI's territory where it becomes costly to get it. Any advice on what I could do to work around this?

2. If the resource is unavailible to you and you have to go to war for it with lesser tech capable forces, what are some suggestions to working with this to achieve the goal?

1. Rubber? Are you playing Civ III or Civ IV?

2. Quantity if not Quality ... and use seige weaponry.

it's been a long time since i played civ3. this forum will probably be able to help you more. we folks here are biased towards civ4 have fun!
