Same here... A couple of subs too to check the area...

I never used AEGIS until recently, I was at war with Arabia (a 2 turn trip across the sea in transports) I had 6 FULL transports of modern armor with an occasional mech inf for defense. Arabia had been doing boming runs on my ships, but I figure, they can take it, plus I have air superiority covering most of the channel.
I send them accross and it is a complete massacure!!!! Every single one of them is destroyed by subs. I felt so sure they did not need an escort, I knew from my spy they had no battleships or destroyers, but silly me thought subs were usless and ignored them. It took 3 AEGIS to clear the channel of all their subs.

btw who know why are sub call boats instead of ships?
Seriously though, maybe because of the German U-boats in world war 2?
Aegis cruisers are predominating now.Mainly because when they were first introduced, the "powers that be" in all the main navies were battleship men, and slightly snobbish about the fact.Originally posted by redhulkz

There's an AEGIS cruiser in Civ3?Hmmm, I'll have to check it out.

, if any annoying civ has declared war on you. Also, they're very useful, if you for example have a lot of marines in your transports and want to take over their cities at once. You can use bombers to soften up their defenses and take them over with the marines (they're weak, I know), but if you bomb their cities down to the grond walls, even they can take over cities. That's always a vital part of my invasion strategy, couldn't do without carriers.
