Modern age naval units

I just noticed that the Destroyer has only 5 less Combat Strength than the Battleship, and has the same range of 3 (it's not a melee unit). Considering that it's also faster and cheaper, that seems pretty potent.

I suspect that both units probably have special attributes that differentiate them more... the Destroyer may have Skirmish, and the Battleship might have a bonus vs. naval units or fortification bombardment.
The earlier pictograph of the 'early' light ship is too general to tell us much. Logically, a light ship would be a cruiser, light cruiser or protected cruiser of the 1875 - 1920 period if they place the destroyer in a later Tier, but in Civ, who knows?

The destroyer - battleship factors look off. Yes, a destroyer's torpedoes could sink a battleship, and the risk of the torpedoes caused WWI fleets to practice evasive maneuvers to avoid them - but no destroyer ever sank a battleship with its torpedoes except a damaged battleship from its own side that was already too damaged to save. - And, except for the Japanese 'Long Lance' torpedoes, ship-launched torpedoes all had much, much shorter effective ranges than battleship guns - shorter than the destroyer's guns, in fact, and those were popguns compared to the battleship's main armament.

But, there may be unseen modifiers to all of these numbers. More important, numbers are real easy to change in computer games, so if the numbers seen so far turn out to be woefully unbalanced, they can be easily patched/modded.
