I need one, so if you know where one is, could you post it?

PS, I'm starting an Taliban-US War, and if you have any units you'd like to contribute, I'd love to see them. Thanks, :goodjob:

There hasn't been one published, IIRC. You might have to make it yourself or convince someone to.

A bit of advice:
Try using Mercator's MapEdit (in the downloads section) to make the basic outline of the map, and then finish the work in the normal editor. It worked for the Colombia map I just recently made, I used a map from an atlas to make the coastlines in MapEdit.

I've made a map, and I have a question. What is a good way to make a plateu-like terrain graphic? Afghan is very mountainous, but I don't want alot of little moutain graphics on the map, or hill graphics either. I need some graphics that when you line them up one way or another, the form a single mountain. Kinda like the railroad and road graphics.

I've been toying with the idea of making an Afghan scenario myself since October 2001, with the Taliban, Nothern Alliance, and other Afghan factions (as well as the US, Iranians, Pakistanis) represented, and the lack of a map is really what turned me off to the idea. I have yet to find any.

Somebody here posted the events, rules, and unit files for an Afghan scenario a few days back, if you're looking for units.

I'll have a look at the units. Seleucus, do you know the names of the other factions, and their leaders? Or maybe a site that has this listed?

Why just Afghanistan?

And no, I'm not being clever: if you wanted a map of Central Asia you could do worse than use Michael Daumen's. Much better to make your own though.

You could also collaborate with SeleucusNicator on a map, since you're both looking at the same region.

I just need to know the warlord's and their provinces, so I can split it up between them and the Taliban and such.

The major warlords?

Abdul Malik in Ghazni
Abdul Rashid Dostum in Mazir-i-Sharif
Ismael Khan in Herat

A few others. TIME had a great map earlier this year, but I've since lost that issue. Perhaps they still have it online.

Most of these were Northern Alliance types (except Khan), so they wouldn't be in control of much before the Taliban fell, which could be a problem.

Before the taliban fell, it was the Northern Alliance vs. Taliban, correct? I know my history, but am dusty on Afghanistan.

AoW, check out Stefan Hartrel's latest scenario 'Roses and ....something. It features an excelent map of central asia drawn my Mercator and should be available in the medievil history section of this site :)

About the plateau thing, the forest, mountain, and hill graphics could be redone to do that. They change look according to their neighbouring terrain tiles.

The Roses scenario is too far west, but thanks for the suggestion. I think I've found some graphics for the plateau thing.

So it was YOU who started all this 'War on Terror' nonsense!!!

Sorry, just couldn't resist :D

BAH! Now i'll need to finish my "Attack on Afghanistan" scenario sooner than anticipated. Gotta beat these pansies to the punch. ;) :D

Ahh, remember: competition enhances performance... :D

Mwahahahaaa...! :satan:

Ok, here are some of my units. All units were created
through modification of already existing ones 'cause
I suck at painting. They don't look that good, but
maybe you have some use for them. I've abandoned my
own scn project 'cause I realized that I lack the
necessary skill and devotion.

Units (from left to right): Suicide Bomber/Fanatic,
Taleban Guerilla (light skin), Suicide Bomber/Fanatic
(dressed more like the palaestine ones), Arab Soldier,
Al Kaida fighter, Osama Bin Laden, Taleban 'Motor Cavalery',
Taleban Guerilla, Taleban Mortar.
