Wow!

8.2 at GameSpot! I expected it to be higher than that!

I was left aghast, really. I thought it deserved a higher score.

I'm not suprise by the ratings at all. It seems to me that the RTS genre in general is running out of ideas.

Anyway, I might try it out first if I can borrow it from my friends if they bought it.

I wasn't expecting much more either. The review sounds like much what I expected it to, but I'm always sceptical of such things, and I'll judge the game on how it plays.

And considering I'm such a fan of the Age of Empire series, this is a must-buy for me

(and to note a grudge, 8.2 is a brilliant score, it's just that most people think that any game that rates under 85% is not worth their attention. At least of the people I know )

It's not out yet. But Gaming sites are allowed to write reviews even before it is out.

8.2 is still very good!

Considering 5 is average (not 7, as some people appear to believe), and 9 is nearly perfect, then I would say 8.2 is very good indeed .

But don't base everything on reviews, just take it as a word of advice.

Gamespot is known for its notoriously harsh reviews, especially Greg Kasavin. He is very fair, though, and lets pre-release hype influence his review as little as possible. I respect the guy a lot.

That said, an 8.2 is certainly not a bad score, especially coming from Kasavin. But knowing that the game is not a "must-have" makes me feel a lot better- I can wait a few months before buying a new computer now.
