Age of Ice Interface Issue

I'm a new member to CFC and fairly new fan of the civ games. i bought civ 4 complete edition awhile back and quickly got into the beyond the sword game. after messing around a bit i figured i'd see what the mods were about. one of the mods i loaded, "Age Of Ice" seemed up my ally since it was "civ 4 meets final fantasy" but on startup of the scenario my interface is nowhere to be seen.. at first i figured, "oh..so this is what deity mode is all about,this might blow".. but then i noticed that even a supremely hard difficulty would not make it completly impossible to move around let alone build a worker.

Now.. I am a new forum member but i'm not new to forums,so i figured i'd check around knowing i am not the first to have the problem. Sadly the other members that did have the similar issues were due to using MODS(downloaded from the net) or/and PATCHES in which i have yet to apply either. this game is running on default factory made settings and there is no interface.. now maybe i need a patch.. in which if that is the case i'll find and download,otherwise...i'm doomed to watch my civilization stand there ..wondering when turn 2 will come.

did you patch to 3.19 yet? if not do so. Is this vista or XP?

Nope. No patches or any alterations made to the game yet.. which is why i was confused.. It's the first time i buy a computer game and it has a interface error from the start.Just glad that "Age Of Ice" was the only mod with that issue. Anyways, i'll load the3.19 patch from the net(can't automatic patch for some reason). i haven't checked yet but i am sure the forum has it.

Oh and this is a vista.

did you install the game with administrator rights?

yup. i make sure to do anything i can with admin rights. learned all to well the things that can go wrong otherwise when i started modding fallout 3.

I just noticed another thread that has a decent amount of pages and claims to have fixed the error..hopefully the same error i am having. going to check it out.

*Edit: that other thread was a little useless.. guess i need to learn a couple of the error abbreviations before jumping off to a diff thread,lol.. anyways,still open for help.*

just checking: you did install the game by right clicking on the setup.exe and choosing run as administrator, right?
please open my games\beyond the sword\civilizationIV.ini and change all items with mod in their name from 0 to 1 - save that file. Then open the game, start Age of Ice - try to start a game - when the interface is missing - close the game any way you can and then post all items in my games\beyond the sword\logs as a zip file here
