The last time i played this mod was ages ago so thought i would give it another go and downloaded the newest version yesterday, using no modmods. I went with random civ on prince and got Charadon, the nearest civ was Dain and he had the good land so i decided to rush him soon. I began spamming beastmen for a good 80 turns or so but the amurites were the 2nd most powerful still acording to the popup, so i find he has only 2 warriors in one of his cities and grab it from him to start the war.

Then i take another new city he just founded that was also lightly defended. I notice he upgraded all his troops to archers after this and moved a big stack towards me but then they just sat on a grassland tile and never moved. I only had 3 beastmen in each city the rest was sneaking around the back of his capitol and the AI never moved that stack of archers to attack me or defend the capitol and it was easily taken.

The AI could have retaken both cities and stopped me from taking the capitol but just sat there, this was only the first game and they were only archers but still they couild have atleast moved back to defend, it seems to be worse then BTS AI.

There're AI issues since around .40 because Kael integrated parts of other people work (mostly Sephi) but they were designed for a different mod and their issues are upgraded faster than FFH2, thus you end with an unstable situation regarding AI here. I hope it will be fixed at some time.

You got the newest version but you did remember the patch, yes? Unless you're playing at Noble or below then two warriors is somewhat underperforming compared with what I've seen.

The AI generally manages the archers and warriors to a reasonable standard. It gets weaker when handling spells and heroes as the complexity increases.

AI manages Sheaim Pyre Zombies very well indeed... in my Svartalfar game I have a Tebryn that's gone rogue and wiped off half my ally Rhoanna's empire in about five turns :P I need to get in there and help, but don't have the troops I need yet, very challenging situation.

Keep it patched; still strange things abound. I think we'll be lucky if anybody's going to make the AI stop drooling and banging its head on the wall. Given the AI's bonuses, maybe that's for the best.

just play a few levels higher.
I regulary play at diety, otherwise Empror. in base BTS i have to take it down a notch as the BTs AI seems to be much better.

All you really need is to spot one civ that is lagging behind, still with warriors while you have axemen and then take them. for me the game is in cleanup stages by the time i get to champions.

if you are attacking with beastmasters, then it's fairly late in the game, by that stage the we normally have the upper hand as we can handle our economy better, and break ahead in the long run.

i normally find my main challenge comes about turn 100-150 on diety, when a couple of AI decide to send their huge SOD in my direction. it's impossible to keep up with diety AI production bonus, so you are forced to fight an up hill battle. if you can survive that stage (or have 7-pines to buy some time) then you can normally cut down their SOD, and then clean up their civ, or find a good backward civ to pick on. then it's just about getting some edge (magic helps a lot), and then the game is fairly much guaranteed won.
