Why did you delete the problem you were having and not post the solution? It can be helpful to others should they come across the same situation as you that they could look it up and find what you did to fix it.
Good point. It was partly to spare my blushes as it was such a stupid error
The King units are created by Wonders, only for one civ I had mistakenly made them Improvements instead, so it built loads of unit generating buildings. Doh.
