AI difficulty in MP?

I started playing MP games recently with some friends.
We´d like to play standard games with some AI players to fill up the slots. We all selected "Monarch" as difficulty level, the level of the AIs is on "Noble" and greyed out, so you cant change that. We hoped the AI would adjust to out level (Monarch) but i guess they were not, because the AI performance was pretty poor.

So my question is:
Is it possible to set MP AIs to a higher difficulty level than "Noble"?

To make AIs tougher, you need to set them to a lower difficulty, like settler, so that they get more bonusses like a human player would have on those difficulties.

Well, there is the problem. I am not able to change the difficulty of the AI, its greyed out and on noble.

So the only way is to set our difficulty level higher? Again, we set our level to monarch (i am normally struggling in SP on monarch), and all the AIs are so incredibly easy its not fun beating them
