AI don't build city's

Later in the game, when a couple of civs have been destroyed: the AI don't use all that free land to build cities. So many parts of the world remain uncultivated. Why is that and how can i change that in the editor?
 
They don't want to excede OCN. They will probably build colonies there, but not cities as they would increase corruption in their productive cities.
 
I never have this problem. The game code only supports 512 cities I think. Are you playing on XL maps with 512 cities already on them?
 
I'll chime in that I've never seen this problem either. Usually, I find the AI is far too enthusiastic about founding cities, oftentimes in a war zone too. We've all seen the AI plunk down a lone city far from its core on some marginal land at the end of a continent.
 
i play earth (huge).The ai build approximately 30-35 cities. i now changed the optimal number of cities from 32 to 200 but they still stop building cities after 35 cities.

I knew it. Your games reach the total allowable number of cities built. You can't go beyond that.
 
Could this be the mapsize bug? When you play a game on a custom map, it uses the settings (corruption, OCN, tech costs, anything that depends on map size) from the last random map you played. The way to fix this is to start a game on a huge random map, then go back to the title screen and start your game on your huge custom map. If you had played a smaller random game before your huge world map, it whould be using the OCN from the smaller map.

Shane: Pentium means OCN, not OCP. OCN = Optimal City Number, it's different for different map sizes, and affects rank corruption.
 
i think i've solved the problem. In the editor, i changed the ONC for standard size. I think the computer builded cities as if i were playing a standard map.
