AI not using ranged bombardment?

Hello, I have ranged bombardment turned on and i can make use of it just fine, but I have so far not seen the AI use the option despite having numerous capable units, all the AI does is (suicide) attack with the collateral damage units the "normal" Civ 4 way.

Is it just me or does the AI simply does not know how to use it?

Oh yea, I am using v1.74H of this mod
 
I usually play on hard difficulties and even then I'm rarely attacked by the AI. (There usually a weaker enemy or i just bribe them to attack another civ)
I'm not sure but by playing against the AI it seems it doesn't know how to use ranged bombardment or even that the function exists, in a way it might seem like the player gets an unfair advantage by using ranged bombardment.
I'm sure the AI can use archer bombardment but not so sure about sieging enemy cities.
 
I concur, if the AI cant use the feature, it is an unfair advantage, guess i will refrain from using it till I see the AI make use of it at least once.

Strange thing is, I know for a fact that the AI in essence should be able to do it.

I tried the Road to war mod that came with the BtS DVD which should be one of the first mods to use the mechanic and sure enough there the AI does use ranged bombardment just fine and frequently.

So maybe there is some code for it that originally worked quite well but got lost some time during the mod development ?

(I hope there is an easy fix for it but probably not, the xml look ok to me, so the problem might lie deeper in some dll I guess)
 
Yeah if you want an improvement then you'll just have to fix it your self because this mod is no longer in development, when it comes to Ai behavior you should take a look at this. It mixes k-mod (best AI in civ iv) with (eventually) a new dawn mod.
You might want some tips from that mod, if you manage to improve AI behavior in any way, you could upload it here for those who still play.
