Is it possible to have the AI only play against eachother (no human players). The reasons I would like to do this is to 1) see if any AI is too overpowered when in the hands of AI play and 2) be able to watch the AI finish the game after I have lost.

Thanks for that! But when I start a game and make the AI start playing without me it destroys the civilization I start the game with. How can I get around that problem?

Also it would be nice to be able to slow the game down at times... I guess the only way is to make it do short AI game stints..

If the AI actually goes to war and destroys your civilization, just use the world builder to put your capital on a nine-tile island in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by peaks - that should keep you alive.

You can't. The only way to remove you from the game is to destroy your civ and give you a unit floating on some iceberg. From there you can watch what the AI does without interacting with the world.

I want to try this thing out now that I am able to play FFH2. Problem is that the link is not working anymore the replacement semi-wiki (http://web.archive.org/web/*/civ4wiki.com/*) thing doesn't have that page...

Could anyone please tell me what to do to have AI only games (the missing link part)?

Ah, really old thread. I wondered how I never saw this before and there are 5 posts that it claims I read :)

My advice to pull this one off would be to set the option for "require Complete Kills" and gift yourself Acheron somewhere that the AI is unlikely to go and which is unreachable by normal means (like the 3x3 island they talked about earlier, one plains tile & 8 peaks in the middle of the ocean).

Since Acheron has no movement, it will never stop to ask you for any input of any kind, and since you don't have a city you won't need to decide on new technologies to research, and shouldn't get disturbed for any trades/demands

And then you wedge a coin between your Right-Shift and Enter keys, such that both are held down. Then go have lunch :D

Or you install AIAutoPlay by jDogg8000 (or whatever his name is again), which enables AiAutoPlay by pressing ctrl-shift-x, then you enter the max turns there and see how the AI turns your nation into a financial disaster.

Or you can open the console and type Game.AIPlay X where X is the number of turns you want it to play. Can't do much while the AI is playing but if you keep X small enough you can look around at regular intervals. Also it will kill off your civilization, like you can see in previous posts.

I think it's ctrl + Z to reveal everything (including this like other civs advisors), so you can see what's going on.

Both of these require that you have the cheatcode (chipotle) set in the civilization 4 ini file.

The ~ key. With a swedish keyboard it's the ö key. Shift + ~ (or ö) is python console.

So here's how to do it in full (for Civ IV complete):

1) Edit the CivilizationIV.ini and CivilizationIV.ini.bak files to change "Cheatcode = 0" to "Cheatcode = chitpotle".

2) Run FFH2 and goto Game Details menu then cross Allow Debug Tools.

3) Start a game of FFH2 and open world builder. Delete your units and put one unit on e.g. an artic ice tile.

4) Press tilde key (~) - not using shift btw. This brings up the console. Then type game.aiplay [integer]. The ai will play without you for at least that many turns...

By the way I ran some games of Sabathiel vs Charadon on tiny map, balanced, nothing else checked and Sabathiel kept creating Basium without Hyborem being in the game. Is that a bug because of me stuffing around with this?

No I think it was changed in some version to allow Basium to be spawned even without Hyborem in the game.

Correct, Hyborem is now automatically spawned by just researching Corruption of Spirit, and Basium is still summoned when the Mercurian Gate is built, but it is allowed to be built even if Hyborem has not been brought to Erebus (changed in .25 I believe)

By the way I have found this is an interesting balance evaluation tool. I've run about 10 games of that and Sabathiel nearly always (like 8 out of 10) beats Charadon on that map (although there are other variables which might help Charadon if things were different). I'm going to write it up and post it as a thread soon hopefully when I make some more games run.

I assume you mean Infernal Pact, not Corruption of Spirit.

Well, the text for Hyborem's appearance still reads "You have founded the Ashen Veil and..."
