AI personalities - a summary?

Is there a summary of all the different AI personalities and how they generally react in major situations? I would be interested to read something that lays out all the basic things to know of each leader. I assume this can be done because I read so often from experienced players how they know that, say, Gandhi is always peaceful, or Mansa always stabs you in the back, or just stuff like that people say. I assume these are constants built into the programming of each leader?

Actually I find it strange that they would code them this way, if that's what was done. Why does Gandhi always have to react the same way in certain situations if every game is supposed to be like a new world with new possibilities? I see there is a setting in the game to set random personalities, which would adjust that I presume (haven't tried it yet). But I think it's interesting for the default game settings that many players seem to know what to expect when they first meet certain AIs.

Is a good place to start, though the other stuff like how the AIs tend to tech up, I'm not sure about. Just from experience though, I'm sure many people will tell you that Isabella and Asoka tend to religiously tech up, if you'll excuse the pun. And there is a list somewhere of how much the AI leaders value wonders as opposed to buildings, units, etc. Look at the XML yourself if you want the specifics.

thanks axident.

yes Oyzar, I said that I do see there is a setting for random personalities. but my point was apparently lost on you.

ps.. reading the XML is about as fun as sticking a needle in my eye, and not really a viable solution for most people

The xml reading has been done for you ;) (have a look at both links in my sig - the personality discussion somehow spilled over to the attitude discussion...) There are indeed a lot of constant factors for each leader and there personality is determined by them. But at the same time they will behave in an "odd" way under certain conditions. E.g. some peaceful leaders like Asoka will be extremely warmongering if they for whatever reason find themselves with a pile of units - they just don't usually build enough for their violent side to come out...

Nice one, Ori. Btw to anyone lurking reading this thread, try Freeze-ing the leaders line by selecting the third line and selecting Windows > Freeze Panes.
