So I downloaded AoI and i noticed some pattern not just in that scenario but in most end games when it was mostly peaceful. Everyone is peace and cool at first and don't want to team up with you against anyone else at start (all polite) no matter how much cash you offer or how weak targets are.

then an ai eventually starts war against me because I refused their threat. By the time i refuse though i saved a lot of gold and one by one pay all the others to team up against him (who are now willing), until I have EVERYONE declares war on him.

so my question is this: they were all so eager to join me in declaring war when it first started and were polite with me, so why are they all raging (furious) at me when the deal expires and they make peace? if they took so many casualties and damage, shouldnt they be furious at their enemy?

also why do they agree to RoP and are polite, but then become annoyed at end of deal even if I never did cross their territory?

Maybe you can try talking to you treaty partners during the treaty/war. Try trading or gifting them maps. Tech and luxury deals make and keep them happy also.

Even if I'm in a war solo against a single nation and taking their territory, I'll contact any nation that has become annoyed (or even cautious) and gift them the world map with the new borders. Talk is cheap. It doesn't hurt to keep an open dialouge going with partners.

some of the player made scenarios disable trade but I tried to give them gold. Even if i used a trainer to get tons of gold to give to them, they're still angry and they turn around and use it against me some time later.

edit- it almost reminds me of rise of nations, when the ai gets to the point where it hates you so much that diplomacy no longer works. when you try they say something like "You must be stopped before it is too late!"

two details of the game may explain what you experience:
- the AIs attitude follows a strict pattern, which is completely different during normal peace times and while you are allies in a common war. read the attitude article in the forums on this site for the details.
- an AI will never ally with you against somebody else who you are not at war with at that time. so just declare first and ask for an alliance then: if your offer is good enough, they will accept it.

If you are doing well, AI opponents start souring in their attitude toward you. Are you ahead of everyone in the power calculation? If so, the AI opponents start to dislike you.

They may have also had more favorable attitudes toward you at the beginning of the deal because you had some temporary things working in your advantage (recent trades, common enemies). After 20 turns, the boosts you were getting from temporary bonuses might have worn off.

There is an AI Attitude Study in the War Academy. It may give you some ideas as to what was influencing your AI opponents.

Raised any cities? That’s a good one for getting the world pi55ed at you. Declared war one someone less than 20 turns after signing a peace deal? Of course if you’ve captured cities you become more powerful this can upset the balance of power and make the AI pi55ed with you too. Finally if you sue for peace 10 turns into a war where you have everyone allied to you don’t expect them to want to deal with you again, OK they do it but it will ruin the AI attitude towards you if you do.

Raising cities actually is fine with everyone, only razing cities the AIs don´t like ;)
