I noticed this the other day and was wondering if anyone else had seen this. I was 1 turn away from learning Currency and planned on trading it away to everyone the next turn. Looking thru the other civs though, I saw that one civ had a new technology that I didn't have yet (Gunpowder maybe, can't remember). I asked what they would require in return for that and got World Map plus 240 gp. Since I was getting Currency the next turn, I figured I could save my money and swap Currency instead. The next turn I went back and asked what they wanted for their tech. I got World Map, 240 gp AND Currency. The cost of the trade went way up just because I had addition valuables to trade.

This obviously effects my strategy from now on. I always shop for new techs before learning a new one.

They needed currency badly, always they will give more $ for techs that gets them ahead.
